But Jesus called them to Him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many. (Mark 10:42-45)
But GOD calls His people to something completely different. Without discounting those qualities and personalities altogether, He wants leaders who serve. Who set themselves aside for the good of others. Who work for the Kingdom, not for any reward they might get in this life, but because of the need, and because GOD calls us to it. And He wants us to look to those people for our servant leaders.
The pastor is not called because of His eloquent speaking style, or his great management style but because of his servant's heart. The Deacons are not called because they run the business of the church so well, but because they love and serve the people who are the church. The leaders in the ministries are not to be chosen because of management skills, or authority styles but because the have a heart for the people and the particular mission they are serving. And above all they are called to serve in a local fellowship of believers because GOD has called them to serve His Church. He doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called.
But He calls the lost to repent, surrender to Him on His terms and be saved from their sIn. That is the message of the gospel, that is the hope of salvation that we share with those that are without GOD and without hope in this world. He is not willing that any should perish and wants everyone everywhere to repent and be born again. Receive His free gift today and live a life that glorifies GOD who loves you and gave Himself for you.
If you are already one of His own, share His love and grace with those you meet.
In Christ,
