This they said, tempting Him, that they might have to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not. So when they continued asking Him, He lifted up Himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again He stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up Himself, and saw none but the woman, He said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. (Joh 8:6-11)
Facing the one who gave Moses the Law and whom she had truly sinned against, she could still have been punished, but our Lord, as He does for us in response to our repentance, gave her mercy, and a command to go and sIn no more. Forgiveness from and by Jesus Christ through faith and repentance is not a license to sIn all we want, in fact we sIn more than we want, but is liberty to live in Him and through Him to do His will and to go and sIn no more just as He told her to do.
Our faith in Him and His finished work on the Cross of Calvary means we are delivered from the penalty of sIn, even as she was, and through the Spirit we have power to overcome the power of sIn. One day, for those who are His, we will be taken out of this world, and when it is judged and all things are made new, all who are in Christ will be free from the presence of sIn. That is Good News, and the redemptive story which we are commanded to go and tell.
As we go, we take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all around us. We, as His ambassadors, are to minister to those who are hurting and in need, to bring them to Christ. We are to disciple one another in the Word that we may grow thereby, having tasted that the Lord is gracious. We are to love one another as He loved us, forgiving and forbearing one another as part of His body, and members one of another. We are to proclaim the whole counsel of GOD that those who hear and believe may have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
