And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire. So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them. And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining. And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.
Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle. For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that He might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that He might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses. (Jos 11:6-9, 18-20)
When we come to Christ, we become new creatures in Him, and we are already victorious through His Spirit over sin and temptation, but we must exercise our victory every day, in surrender to Him and in obedience to His Word. Those things in our lives which we hold onto, or justify in the flesh, will tempt us, and give us trouble in our walk with GOD. He will chastise us, our testimony may be weakened, and our ministry may falter or even fail, but GOD will not fail, and He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is our Helper, and if we repent and return to Him, as we did when we trusted Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary for Salvation, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we are in Him, He will continue to conform us to the image of His dear Son until the day of Jesus Christ.
Until that day, we are to do the work He has for us to do, not to earn or keep His great Salvation, but because of His love for us and for others. He has called us to the ministry of reconciliation and missions to those around us who are hurting and in need that they might see Jesus in us, the hope of Glory. He has commanded us to love one another, as He has loved us, that all may know that we are His disciples, as we grow in Him and in His Word, equipped unto every good work. He has commissioned us to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ as His witnesses, and as we go where He sends us, to take the Word of GOD with the Good News to this lost and dying world that those who hear and believe, by repentance and faith in Him alone, might have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
