All things were accomplished that the Scripture might be fulfilled

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said, It is finished: and He bowed His head, and gave up the ghost. The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day, (for that Sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with Him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that He was dead already, they brake not His legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced His side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. For these things were done, that the Scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of Him shall not be broken. And again another scripture saith, They shall look on Him whom they pierced. (Joh 19:30-37)
Crucified, put to death according to the Scriptures. Sacrificed in our place according to the Scriptures. Dead and buried three days and three nights according to the Scriptures. Jesus Christ fulfilled all the requirement and prophecies concerning His incarnation, His ministry, and now His death for the sins of the whole world. Bruised for our iniquities, wounded for our transgressions, the chastisement of our peace is upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed. He has put to death the flesh, that those who believe and repent may live in the Spirit. He has willingly and humbly offered Himself, obedient unto death even the death of the Cross, that we might, in Him live victoriously and abundantly, the life we were meant to live.

On that High Sabbath day, separate from the regular sabbath of the week, the passover lamb was offered for sin, and the Lamb of GOD offered Himself, the final sacrifice, for all sin. He had completed all that His Father gave Him to do, and now gave up Himself for us, that we might live if we repent and put our trust in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary for our only Salvation. He is the only way to the Father, He is Truth, the Word made flesh, and He is life, who put to death the flesh, but was quickened by the Spirit.

Those who are His, indwelt and empowered by His Spirit within, the other Comforter that has come, and guides and corrects His people, are to be on mission with and for our Lord. We are called to give ourselves, sacrificially and without murmurings and disputings, to serve and minister to those who are hurting and in need, as He provides, wise as serpents but harmless as doves. We are commanded to love one another, even as He loved us, giving Himself, laying down His life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren, even as we grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ through His Word. We are commissioned to take the Gospel of hope and mercy to this lost and dying world, that those who hear the Good News and repent of their sins might be reconciled with the Father through faith in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit and have life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.

In Christ,
Jefferson Sweet
