And why call ye Me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to Me, and heareth My sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. (Luke 6:46-49)
God’s Word, rightly divided, is the foundation whereupon all else is built if the house is to stand against the calamities and pressures of this world. Those that build their family, their life, their ministry, and their relationships on the principles and commands in the Word of God will see their ‘house’ stand during the storms of life. Those who fail to hear and obey the words of life which Christ speaks are building their ‘house’ upon their own opinions, the lies and deceit of the world, or general misinformation from other ‘authorities’ which will not stand up to the reality of life in this broken world and its storms.
Those who know God by faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary have put their faith in Him because they believe His Word. Jesus Christ, the living Word made flesh, breathed the words into the men who were moved by the Spirit to speak and write them for us that we would know Him and be doers of His Word. Building our lives, families, and churches upon the solid foundation of His Word, rightly divided, will mean we can stand against all that the world, the flesh, and the devil brings against us and stay strong in the storms of life. Only the authoritative Word of God is sufficient to give us answers for life’s problems and only those who are in Christ through repentance and faith can receive it. We are to reach the lost that they might be born again, teach the nations all that He has commanded, and preach the whole Word to the whole world until He is done with us, for He is our Rock and His Word is our foundation.
God sends those of us who are His saints and know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our God has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of God so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of God might have life in His Name.
God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. God calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with God, forgiveness from God, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of God who is God the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
