The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet. He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth. The mountains quake at Him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at His presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. Who can stand before His indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by Him. (Nahum 1:3-6)
Nahum is the next stop on our 'minor' journey. Here the prophet, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, speaks of GOD's judgment, His holiness, His righteous anger, and His power. The prophecy of Nahum is mostly directed at the Assyrians, but the character and nature of GOD against sIn in any form is universal. GOD judges the nations and people who sIn against Him; and He is just to do so because He is Holy and Righteous and cannot allow sIn in His presence. This presentation of our GOD is to be feared, and the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Look to GOD. He calls us all to throw ourselves on His mercy in complete surrender on His terms that we might not be destroyed. His anger is fierce and none can abide in the day of His wrath. We will not stand in that day, if we stand in our own strength. All who are not covered by the Blood of Jesus Christ will be cast out in the final judgment.
But those that have received Him by faith and have put their trust in Jesus Christ through repentance and forgiveness of their sIn will stand, not in their own strength, but in the grace and love of the Lord Jesus. On that day it will be too late to repent and receive. On that day all will know the truth, but there will be no more chances. GOD only gives people so much time in this life, and that is our opportunity to be saved. Today is the day of salvation, now is the appointed time. Don't wait until it is too late.
And if you are already washed clean and surrounded by His love, share Him with others that they might live.
