And He said unto me, son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against Me: they and their fathers have transgressed against Me, even unto this very day. For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD. And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them. And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. (Ezekiel 2:3-6)
We now move to Ezekiel on our Major Journey through the prophets. GOD told Ezekiel that he had a particular purpose in going to the Jews, for they were in rebellion against GOD. He was to tell them only what GOD said, regardless of whether they listened or not, or obeyed or not, neither was he to be afraid of any of them, for GOD was with him as he went.
The Jews, as a nation did not listen, and were after GOD's mercy had reached its end, punished and taken into captivity, just as GOD had promised. GOD waited for generations and sent the prophets to warn them of their sIn, but eventually He carried out the chastisement of His own.
The Church must also be a warning to the nations. We are to be a light on a hill, shining into the darkness so that those that are lost may find the Way, Jesus Christ. We are to be salt in this world, but not of it, making lost people thirsty for the Living Water that they might have life. And we must do it always with 'Thus saith the LORD', only speaking what Scripture says. We must study to show ourselves approved unto GOD, rightly dividing the Word of Truth, and then tell everyone we meet about the love of Jesus, and the forgiveness of sIn that He has already paid for on the Cross of Calvary.
If you don't yet know Him, GOD wants you to have a new life of discipleship and fellowship in Him that is abundant and everlasting. He is not willing that you should perish, Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Believe Him today, and receive by faith His free gift of salvation and be born again.
Be obedient to the call of GOD.
