Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy GOD: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it. (Exo 20:8-11)
GOD commands us to rest. He knows our bodies need the break each week. He created us, He knows how He made us and what our bodies need. He also demands worship, as Creator and King. The Lord of the Universe deserves our worship, gratitude, and praise. He is King of kings and Lord of lords, who created all things. He tells us here that He did so in six twenty-four days, and then rested, and calls us to rest in observance and honor to our Creator Lord.
We also rest in Him, for those of us who are His by faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary have entered into His rest. We no longer have to work to earn Salvation, which we could not do, but rest in Him and cease from our labor. The work we now do, we do in Christ and He in us, producing fruit for the Kingdom as He works in us. While we still rest physically, because He commands it, we also rest and worship Him every day because He is Lord.
As we rest, the work in us that Jesus Christ wills is for us to minister to those that are hurting, that others see Jesus in us, the hope of Glory. He commands us to disciple one another in love that others may see our love and know we are His disciples. He has commissioned us to share the Gospel to all we meet, and as we go, proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to this lost and dying world. That they may hear and believe, and believing in His forgiveness and reconciliation with GOD through Jesus Christ may have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt, that you might rest in Him. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always, and enter into spiritual rest in Him.
In Christ,
