For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together. And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken. Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein. Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood. (Jeremiah 48:7-10)
GOD pronounced a judgment on the people and nation of Moab because they had stood in opposition to GOD and His people. They had joined forces with Babylon in hopes of destroying a people who were distantly related to them, but they hated. They had also denied the Lord GOD, an heritage they had and lived to the point that GOD was done with them. This passage was fulfilled shortly as Babylon and Egypt utterly destroyed Moab, just as GOD had foretold. After its destruction Moab ceased to exist, and what was left of any of the people has now been completely absorbed into the Arabian and Jordanian cultures of today. When GOD declares the end of a nation, He accomplishes the punishment He decrees.
While GOD has always promised that a remnant of His people would always exist and remain, the nations that forget GOD have already been judged. GOD will not continue to bless that which He has already condemned as an abomination, regardless of how we may try to excuse it or ignore His Word. Those in the Church who deny His Word are cast out and chastised, or taken out of this world. Until He returns in judgment and to rule the world, He commands His people to be faithful to ALL His Word, and to take His message of mercy and grace to this lost and dying world.
For those of you who do not know GOD, you are under a curse and judgment just as Moab was. But,
God is not willing that any should perish, but wants you to have a new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with Him that is real and personal. You must be born again, surrendering to GOD on His terms, and receiving by Faith in His finished work on the Cross of Calvary the forgiveness of your sIn that He freely offers to you. Believe and have a brand new life in Christ, today.
Live for GOD and experience His blessing today.
