Godliness with contentment is great gain

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
But my GOD shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now unto GOD and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Php 4:11-13, 19-20)
No matter how big our house, how few possessions we have, how large or small our bank account, we are to be content, for the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. We are to trust GOD that He will supply every need, for He already knows what we need before we ask, and every good gift comes from Him. We are not to ask amiss, to consume it upon our lusts, nor are we to murmur about our condition, for GOD is faithful. Everything happens in His time, and for His purposes; to reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to conform us to the image of His dear Son, and for His Church to minister out of His abundance that He has blessed us with.

All the things we are to be doing are to this end, that GOD is glorified. When we share our faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary and teach repentance toward Him, GOD is glorified in our obedience and testimony. When we minister to others out of that which GOD has given us, GOD is glorified in us and through us, as our provider and King. When we disciple one another in the Word and love one another as members one of another, GOD is glorified as our Heavenly Father who is pleased when the brethren dwell together in the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace.

GOD's people are to glorify Him, not in our wants and fleshly desires that fulfil the lust of the flesh, but in knowing Him and relying on Him every day, as we die to self and bear our cross, crucified in Him and raised to walk in newness of life. We are to glorify our Father, not in friendship with the world and the things of the world, or being conformed to this world, but transformed by the renewing of our minds and having the mind of Christ as we learn of Him through the Scriptures that are able to make us wise. We are to glorify Him who is our Lord and Saviour, not in our thoughts or our ways, which are not His, but in accomplishing His will and work in this lost and dying world, as ambassadors and ministers of reconciliation.

We are to minister, as His representatives, shining as lights in the world, but not of it, and lifting up Jesus Christ, the Creator, Redeemer, and soon coming King, that He might draw all men to Himself and be glorified in and by His Church. We are to reach out to those who are hurting and in need that they may see Jesus in us, the hope of Glory. We are to love one another, as Christ loved us, that all may know we are His disciples. We are to go with the Word, and as we go, preach and teach the Good News of repentance and forgiveness to those who believe in Him that they may receive by faith life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.

In Christ,
Jefferson Sweet
