Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! (Mat 23:34-37)
Not only was this scathing criticism of not only the religious leaders, but all those who had rejected in practice, if not outright, the Word of GOD and the prophets of our Lord, directed at those which had rejected them, but also who would reject GOD and His people. His testimony of His prophets was complete chronologically as well as from A to Z. Our Lord left nothing out in His condemnation of those who profess religion, but reject the GOD of all creation, who had delivered not only the Jews from Slavery, but through His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, would deliver all who place their faith and trust in Him.
GOD calls all people, who are sinners and separated from GOD and under condemnation for their sIn, to repent, to turn from their sIn, and turn to GOD in faith and trust, believing that Jesus is GOD in the Flesh, and that He alone is our Saviour. GOD calls and commands His people to be true to His Word, and live our lives in Him and He in us, to glorify Him and draw all men unto Christ. We are not to be as these leaders, rejecting the one true GOD in practice, while claiming Him with our speech, nor are we to reject His messengers, His preachers, and His Word, but repent, trust and obey, in Spirit and in Truth, that He may use us to accomplish His will, His ways, and His works in us, that He before ordained that we should walk in them.
His people are to be His ministers; reaching out in service and in love to those who are hurting and in need. We are His ambassadors, representing the Kingdom here on earth. We are His disciples, learning and growing in the Word and from one another. We are His soldiers, wrestling not with flesh and blood, but with principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world, with spiritual wickedness in high places. We are His witnesses, sharing the Gospel of Peace with all who will hear, and proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to this lost and dying world, that they may believe and have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
