Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if Thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. But I know, that even now, whatsoever Thou wilt ask of GOD, GOD will give it Thee. Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto Him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto Him, Yea, Lord: I believe that Thou art the Christ, the Son of GOD, which should come into the world. (Joh 11:21-27)
Martha believed Jesus was GOD and that He would raise Lazarus at some point, but like many Christians, she had a misunderstanding of the timing and plans of GOD. Jesus is Life, and the giver of life, not just in the last day, but at any time of His choosing. He raised Lazarus, despite their doubt, and glorified the Father, once again confounding the 'authorities' who did not believe. He testified through this of His power over death and His deity as the Lord of Life who promises a new life to all those who believe in Him.
Those that put their hope and faith in Him, and trust Him for Salvation, are not just promised eternal life, but abundant life, not just a future life with Christ, but His life in us the moment we repent and believe in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. The Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, who went humbly and willingly to put to death the flesh for our sins in our place, will also willingly give His Spirit and the new birth to all who come to Him in faith and repentance, surrendering to Him on His terms, not to continue in sIn, but to be set free from sIn and its penalty, to live His life and do His will and work in this sinful and broken world until He takes us Home to be with Him.
As His ambassadors, we are called to be His servants, to minister to those around us who are hurting and in need, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. As His disciples, we are commanded to love one another as He loved us, and to grow in His Word and the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. As His witnesses, we are commissioned to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ through His Word everywhere we go, and as we go, proclaim the Good News of forgiveness of sIn and reconciliation with GOD to all who will hear and believe that they might have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
