Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the Day of Jesus Christ: Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the Gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. For GOD is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the Day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of GOD. (Php 1:6-11)
We continue our journey through the prison letters with a look at Philippians, the letter of Joy. This is the most positive of all the church letters Paul wrote, and definitely the most joyous of all the prison epistles. Paul was confident not of only whom he had believed, but also that Jesus Christ, because of our repentance of our sIn, and our faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, would finish that work in all who have been born again. Paul may have been bound in prison, but the Gospel was not constrained, for it was passed from Paul to others, who shared it. No matter how bad it may seem to us, GOD's Word doesn't go out void but it will accomplish that which GOD pleases.
No matter what our circumstances, for the child of GOD, He can and does use us to witness to others, to love and minister to those who are in need, and to encourage and comfort others of the household of faith. No Christian can stand alone, and there are no 'secret-service' Christians in GOD's army of believers. GOD calls His own to live in Him and through Him that He might work in us both to do and to will of His good pleasure. We are His workmanship, and He will not be done with us until He takes us Home to be with Him. His righteousness must show in us, the fruit of His Spirit must grow in us, and His Gospel must go with us to every one we meet.
We are the work of His hands, and as His body and ambassadors of His Kingdom, we are to minister those around us who are hurting and in need. We are His temple, and as the living building of GOD we are to grow in Him through His Spirit and His Word and to love one another so that all may know that we are indeed His disciples. We are His servants and friends, and we are to go with His authority, in His Name, and as we go, tell all who will hear of the Good News of Jesus Christ, that those who repent and believe the Gospel might have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
