And the high priest arose, and said unto Him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? But Jesus held His peace. And the high priest answered and said unto Him, I adjure thee by the living GOD, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of GOD. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard His blasphemy. (Mat 26:62-65)
Jesus only words during this illegal trial were to acknowledge the high priests statement and testify of Himself. His agreement simply infuriated the council further, especially when He followed it with a prophecy of His Authority, His return, and the absolute fact, which they refused to believe, that He was indeed the Messiah, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son. The high priest called it blasphemy, and it would have been, if it were not completely true. Since Jesus is GOD in the flesh, He was the only one who could claim to be GOD, and not be a lunatic or a liar. Our Lord was none of those things, despite the accusations and false witnesses against Him, for He is Emmanuel, without sIn, and yet fully Human and fully GOD, here with us.
Because of their hatred, and because He spoke with Authority and challenged both their place and their 'power', they completed their plan to stop Him anyway they could. But, they could not have done so if GOD had not allowed it, for it fit His greater plan for our Salvation. Jesus went humbly and willingly to the Cross, was buried and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, that we might have life, eternal and abundant, through repentance and our faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary.
Because of His mercy, and by His grace, we accomplish His work while we are here, until He takes us Home to be with Him. We, His ambassadors, serve Him and minister to one another. We disciple one another in the Word that we might grow thereby. We, as ministers of reconciliation, proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to all who will hear. As we go, we share the Gospel of repentance and faith in Jesus Christ so that those that believe may have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
