Nevertheless hear thou now this word that I speak in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people; The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence. The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him. (Jeremiah 28:7-9)
Those who would speak for GOD must take care; for if GOD has not truly sent them they are a false prophet, no matter how sincere their intentions. There are many today that preach of peace, but do not preach the Prince of Peace. They are false prophets and ravenous wolves in shepards clothing. We are to beware and rebuke them just as Jeremiah did with these false prophets. We are to study GOD's Word so that we know what He has said and is doing. We are to know Him so that we can stand against those that would pervert and dilute Doctrine. We should be so in tune with GOD and His Word that when falsehood comes it stands so obvious, like a dark spot on a light shirt.
GOD called out those that did not speak for Him in some cases, but let others lead the weak astray. He also used His prophets to speak to His people. Today, we are the messengers of GOD; to speak Truth from His Word and reprove falsehoods. GOD left us on this earth to be about His business; to shine in the darkness and draw lost people to the Salvation that GOD freely offers to all.
If you do not yet know GOD, all this may seem a bit harsh, but understand that GOD's holiness requires justice, even in His mercy for us, sIn has to be paid for, and the wages of sIn is death.
Jesus came as a man, died on a cruel Roman cross in your place to pay your sIn debt. He loves you and wants a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. He is not willing that you should perish, but wants you to know Him and believe the Truth of His Word about what He desires for you. He came that you might have an abundant life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is everlasting. Receive Him by Faith today.
