Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon Him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? They answered Him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am He. And Judas also, which betrayed Him, stood with them. As soon then as He had said unto them, I am He, they went backward, and fell to the ground.
The high priest then asked Jesus of His disciples, and of His Doctrine. Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing. Why askest thou Me? ask them which heard Me, what I have said unto them: behold, they know what I said. And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so? Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou Me? (Joh 18:4-6, 19-23)
Those that were trying to get rid of Jesus sought an occasion to accuse Him, and only did so because the death of our Lord was by the determined counsel of GOD. No man could have taken His life, unless He allowed it, and no one would have accused Him in matters of the Law, for He was without sIn and gave the Law to Moses, except He answered not, as a Lamb led to the slaughter. He trusted His Father, and was determined and steadfast, despite the agony which was to come, to endure the Cross for our sakes and to accomplish the work His Father gave Him to do to pay the price for our sIn.
Our Lord offered Himself in our place and for our sIn, though He was without sIn, that we might be made the righteousness of GOD in Him. We have His power, through the Holy Spirit within us to overcome sIn and to live holy lives, as He guides and directs us, in obedience to Him and His Word, so that those we speak to about Him may know of our good conversation, confession, and conscience in Christ as we testify of Him. We are not above our Master, and must not think that we will not face the same questions and accusations if we live in and through Him and He in us, the hope of Glory.
We are compelled and constrained by His love for us and for others to do His work now, while we are here on this earth, as His ambassadors and ministers. We are called to represent Him as we stretch out our hands to the poor, and reach forth our hands to the needy, that those that will may be delivered. We are commanded to love one another, even as Christ also loved us, that all may know that we are His disciples. We are chosen as His disciples and are to learn of our Master through His Word and we are grow up in Him as He conforms us to the image of His dear Son. We are commissioned to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to all we meet, that those who hear the Gospel, repenting of their sIn and believing in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary for Salvation, might have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
