The Words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are Life.

Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in Me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent Me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth Me, even he shall live by Me. This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. (Joh 6:53-58)
Jesus was speaking both of His coming offering for sIn as the perfect sacrifice and atonement, and spiritually of our communion with Him. This is not cannibalism as some have supposed and even accused us of, or is it justification for the devilish doctrine of transubstantiation followed by the Orthodox and Roman Catholic cults. Though it is a difficult passage and doctrine for us to study, Jesus was telling us of how committed we would have to be, completed surrendered to Him on His terms, in order to follow Him. His flesh was offered in our place, and His blood was shed to give us eternal life.

We are to partake of Him, suffer with Him for righteousness sake, and trust His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, not just with our head, believing the facts of the crucifixion, but with all our our being, receiving Him by faith, as if we had consumed Him. We remember His offering and sacrifice for us in type and picture, spiritually in remembrance, each time we celebrate the Lord's supper, not in reality, for the elements do not change, but demonstrating what we have in Him, and shewing the Lord's death 'til He comes again.

Partaking of the suffering of our Lord, and dwelling in Him, requires surrender of ourselves to Him, and brings us eternal life and the blessings of the Father. We are to be dead to ourselves, that we might live in Him and do His work and will in this lost and dying world. We are His ambassadors, and so must represent our Father and His Kingdom in all that we do, in the world, but not of it. We are His ministers, serving as He directs, and teaching all things whatsoever He has commanded us, that all may know of Him, and the reconciliation He has paid for with His own blood on that tree.

As His ambassadors, we are to minister to those around us who are hurting and in need, that they may see Jesus in us the hope of Glory. We are to disciple one another in the Word of GOD that we may grow thereby, and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh us a reason of the hope that is in us, with meekness and fear. We are to love one another, even as Christ loved us, that all may know we are His disciples. We are to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Word of GOD and proclaim the Good News of forgiveness and repentance to those who will hear that they may believe and receive eternal life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.

In Christ,
Jefferson Sweet
