Know therefore that the LORD thy God, He is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His Commandments to a thousand generations; And repayeth them that hate Him to their face, to destroy them: He will not be slack to him that hateth Him, He will repay him to his face. Thou shalt therefore keep the Commandments, and the Statutes, and the Judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them. (Deut. 7:9-11)
God keeps His promises and covenants. He cannot lie nor break His Word. The covenant with Noah means the world will never be overflowed with water, even if local floods happen periodically. The contract with Abraham means that people of faith and Abraham’s descendants both naturally and spiritually will have a place in the land and in God’s heart. The covenant with Israel means the land is theirs and their kingdom will be established and one day ruled by the King of kings and Lord of lords. Those that are not with God are in opposition to Him, there is no neutral position, and God will one day judge all those who rejected Him. Israel was told to keep His Word and obey it because God is faithful to keep His.
God’s Church is also to be faithful to the Word of the Lord. We are to keep His commandments, not only guarding it against those who oppose it, but also doing the Word which God has given us. Those of us who are born again by faith in Him and His finished and perfect work are not just servants of God promised a future life with God but by the grace of God blessed now with eternal life in Him and through Him who is our life. God has covenanted with His people to provide, to protect, and to preserve them until we are Home with Him. The blood of Jesus Christ is the signature of the covenant which God has made with all people of faith throughout all generations and God will be faithful to keep His Word.
While we are here God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our God has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of God so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of God might have life in His Name.
God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. God calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with God, forgiveness from God, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of God who is God the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
