Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy GOD giveth thee.
Thou shalt not kill.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Thou shalt not steal.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. (Exo 20:12-17)
These last six commandments given by GOD reflect His desire for us to love our neighbour as ourselves.
To love and honor those that that raised us, and represented GOD to us when young, however imperfectly they may have done so.
To love and honor the life of others, born and unborn, because GOD is Life.
To love and honor the marriage, and keep ourselves pure, because GOD is Holy.
To love our neighbour and honor their possessions as their own, for GOD is our provider, and will meet all our needs.
To love honestly and honor one another with the truth, for GOD is Truth.
To love and honor others more than ourselves, and not try to keep up with an unhealthy desire (which is idolatry) for what they have. GOD only gives us what we can handle, and we are to trust Him and be content with what He blesses us with.
All the commandments point to our Holy and Righteous GOD, who alone is GOD, who alone is worthy of our worship, whose Name is Holy, and is our Creator and King. The Lord of Life, GOD of the Universe, who is Life and Truth, is our Provider and Redeemer. He is worthy of our love, obedience, honor, and praise.
But, He also knows that in ourselves, by our own ability, we cannot keep His Laws, nor can we approach Him. He came to us, humbly and willingly becoming a man, in the likeness of sinful flesh, that we might become the righteousness of Him. He kept the Law perfectly, followed and obeyed the will of His Father, and took our place to pay our sIn debt. These commandments remind us of what GOD requires, and of what it cost GOD to provide us the only way to be reconciled with Him. Our covenant with GOD was paid for by the Blood of Jesus Christ, and we entered into that covenant by faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary.
We are to tell others of His love for them. In ministry and missions to the hurting, meeting their needs as GOD provides the increase. In discipleship, connecting and loving one another, as we grow in His Word. In evangelism, proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to those that need to hear. Three parts to the whole work of the Church that all are to be about: that others may see Christ in us, learn and know of Jesus, and hear the Gospel and in believing have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt, that you might rest in Him. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always, and enter into spiritual rest in Him.
In Christ,
