And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee. The LORD shall open unto thee His good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in His season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the Commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: (Deut. 28:11-13)
God desired that His people, as the holy people of God would obey His Commands. He promised Israel that He would bless their nation with peace from their enemies, good crops, and bountiful livestock if they kept His Commandments, Statutes, and Judgments. If Israel was obedient to all that God had given in His Word, He would bless the people, enlarge the nation, and they would prosper and have plenty. If they did not obey and departed from His Commandments they would be in want, flee from their enemies, and their crops and herds would dwindle. God’s protection of His people would be withdrawn if they disobeyed. God would provide cursing instead of blessing for the wicked and rebellious. He would never leave them but He would not bless their sin.
God calls His people to holiness and obedience. He is Lord of all those who have repented of their sins and put their trust in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary for forgiveness and redemption. Those of us who are saved have recognized that no matter how good we think we are, God has declared all under sin and unrighteous in His eyes. Only through God’s grace can we be blessed with Salvation and all things which pertain unto godliness and righteousness. Those who are not born again and forgiven of their trespasses and sins, which we all have committed, are not good and God cannot bless their sin. He promises all good things unto His own according to His Will, and if we ask according to His will He gives us our petitions, but does not give to those who ask amiss and for our own selfishness. God is righteous and pure, and all His gifts are perfect and given as He wills. His justice and judgment is also righteous, and shown to all who are in rebellion to God, our Creator, Redeemer, and King.
God has sent those who are His and know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our God has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of God so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of God might have life in His Name.
God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. God calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with God, forgiveness from God, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of God who is God the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
