Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

There came unto Him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on His head, as He sat at meat. But when His disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. When Jesus understood it, He said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. For ye have the poor always with you; but Me ye have not always. For in that she hath poured this ointment on My body, she did it for My burial. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this Gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her. (Mat 26:7-13)
A precious servant of our Lord, recognizing her unworthiness and His great Salvation, anointed Jesus, not only as her Saviour, but because of His approaching suffering and death in her place. Whether she recognized the full significance of her sacrifice and offering or not, Jesus honored her for her giving and her worship of Him. We should not only worship Him as our Lord, for He is GOD the Son who is the Son of GOD, but also fall at His feet as she did, for He is our Creator, Redeemer, and King and is worthy of all praise and honor.

In addition, our Lord chastised those who would, with the worthy but unrelated excuse of giving to the poor, call out one of His own for their giving to the Lord as the are led. Our Lord made it very clear, that no matter how much we give, we will always have those who are poor, for some will choose to remain so, and others will become so, even as we are helping some to no longer be poor. It does not mean that we, when led to do so, should not help those who are in need, as GOD gives to us, but it does signify that, despite our best efforts, until the Lord returns, we cannot eradicate poverty and suffering with money. The Gospel is of course, the cure and the answer for all people and their sIn condition, for our spiritual need is the underlying problem we all have, and only Jesus can save us.

We are not to 'shoot the wounded' or question the motives and reasons of those who are serving GOD and worshiping in Spirit and in Truth, but judge with righteous judgment, looking to ourselves and our motives first, and then relying on the Spirit of GOD to lead us into all Truth. We are to dwell together in unity, serving our Lord as His ambassadors, and ministering as His body to all who need Him in love and by His grace and power. We are to serve those who are hurting and in need as GOD provides, that they may see Jesus in us the hope of glory. We are to love one another that others may know we are His disciples, and disciple one another in the Word that we may grow thereby. We are to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary so that those who hear and believe the Gospel will not only see the example of this woman, but believe in Christ and receive forgiveness and life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.

In Christ,
Jefferson Sweet
