And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your GOD, He is GOD in Heaven above, and in earth beneath. (Jos 2:9-11)
God had already promised Joshua and the Children of Israel the land which He had given Abraham and now they prepared to inhabit the land under the mighty hand of GOD. Rahab and the other inhabitants of the land had heard of GOD's works on behalf of the Israelites and were fearful, but her fear of GOD led to faith in Him and obedience and surrender to Him on His terms. Because of her actions in obedient faith, she was not only saved from the destruction of Jericho, but also in the lineage of our Lord Jesus, the mother of Boaz and David's great-great-grandmother.
Rahab heard of GOD through His works, today we have His Word to know Him. Our faithful obedience to our Lord's Word in the fear of GOD can and will make us fit for His Kingdom purposes, and the legacy we may leave our children, especially those who are saved in Christ is priceless. GOD calls us to holiness, and to be an example of the believers, in Word, in conversation, in charity, in Spirit, in faith, in purity. Through the Spirit of GOD which dwells within, He is conforming His people into the image of His dear Son, and guides us into all Truth through His Word which we ought to desire more than our necessary food. People around us should hear of His wonderful works and know of what GOD is doing in and through us.
His Word and His power can keep us from sin; for it teaches us Truth for it is Truth, makes us wise unto Salvation, corrects and reproves our thoughts and actions, and instructs us in the ways of righteousness for His Name's sake. He calls and equips us to minister, with the Word of reconciliation, to those around us who are hurting and in need, that they may see Jesus in us, the hope of Glory. Our Lord commands us to love one another, and encourages us to disciple one another in His statutes and precepts, that all may know we are His disciples. He commissions and enables us to take the Gospel to this lost and dying world, that those who hear the Good News of Jesus Christ and repent, believing in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, might have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
