Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. (Genesis 12:1-4)
Abraham is commanded to get out of where he was, he was not told where he was going to end up, but GOD did promise a blessing upon him for his obedience and faith. GOD's promises are sure, and He has indeed blessed Abraham and his descendants; both physical and spiritual. We who are in Christ are blessed because of our faith in Christ, who is a descendant after the flesh of Abraham. We then are spiritual descendants of Abraham, not Jews after the flesh, but Children of GOD after the Spirit. We are indeed blessed, having received Salvation by faith in GOD and who He is and what He said He will do. When we trust GOD and place our faith in Jesus Christ just as Abraham did, GOD counts it for righteousness in us.
Abraham obeyed because of his faith in GOD, and took his family, even extended family, and despite his age he went out, not knowing where he was going, and he followed in trust and obedience. I encourage you to follow Christ with that level of trust and obedience, not just for salvation, but for all areas of life, for it is not our life anymore. We have been hid in Christ, and He lives in us. We must depart from where we are and follow Him to where He wants us to be, even if we don't know the end of the journey.
If you are not a child of GOD, having never been born again, you are not yet blessed by faith. GOD calls you to repent, to surrender to Him on His terms and receive Him by faith. Faith in His Word, and His finished work on the Cross of Calvary. He loves you, He is not willing that any should perish, but wants you to be saved. Trust and obey Him today.
