And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the LORD of Hosts, the GOD of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters; I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto Me. And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him. And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him. (Jeremiah 27:4-7)
This prophecy given to Jeremiah for all the nations around Judah was a reminder to them of who GOD was, and that it was His plan that would be accomplished for the Jews not theirs. They would not conquer the Southern kingdom, but would themselves be conquered along with Judah by the Babylonians until the time that GOD has ordained.
History has born this out. Babylon came in and marched through all her neighbors all the way to Egypt just as GOD had said, until He raised up the Persians to conquer Babylon and set the Jews free. GOD has a timetable, and everything is going according to His clock. We don't have all the details. The faithful Jews did not know all of what GOD had planned, though He revealed parts of it to His prophets. They believed and obeyed the Word of GOD that was revealed to them, just as we should.
Those of us in the Church are commanded to observe to do all that is in His Word, including understanding the times. That does not mean we set any kind of dates, or try to predict the Rapture and His return, for we cannot do that. He has not revealed that to us. But we are to be about our Father's business, and see what is going on around us and compare all we see and know with Scripture. GOD's Word is the lens by which we are to understand what GOD is doing, and tell others of His love and mercy freely offered to them, for as long as GOD leaves us here.
Our commission and commandment is to Preach the Gospel, and love one another: To that end, true Christians everywhere are telling the good news that Jesus loves you, and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. He is not willing that you should perish, but wants you to come to the knowledge of the Truth. The Truth that He is GOD, that He willingly gave Himself on the Cross of Calvary for your sIn, and if you believe His Word and receive Him by Faith He will give a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. He calls you to repent and be born again, today.
Believe and observe to do what GOD would have you to do in obedience to His Word.
