The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the Law knew Me not: the pastors also transgressed against Me, ... Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but My people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit. Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD. For My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the Fountain of Living Waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water. (Jeremiah 2:8,11-13)
When the leadership fails to follow GOD they lead the people astray. Failure of Israel to believe GOD, and His Word led to apostasy, idolatry and rebellion. They failed to remain pure to GOD and His holiness. They failed to be a witness both personally, and nationally to those around them. And GOD instructed them over and over through the prophets and warned them to repent and return, but most would not listen.
The church today is in much the same condition; no longer truly believing GOD, nor His Word, many while claiming His Name, live like practical atheists. The presence and power of GOD is missing from their life. The leadership of the church no longer follows the teachings and doctrine of GOD, nor recognizes the Authority of His Word. They give lip service to Him, and read the 'stories' from its pages but there is no power in their preaching because they are not listening to the Spirit of GOD but follow the ways and words of man, just as Israel did long ago. Our only Hope is in Jesus Christ, and we must repent and return to GOD if the church is to be any influence on our society. We have been silent too long and may already be under the judgment of GOD for our complacency, our apathy, and our ignorance of history and what GOD has said.
GOD calls all of us to a life of holiness, discipleship and obedience to His Word. If you are truly in the Body of Christ through a relationship with Him established in faith, repentance and forgiveness because of the blood He shed on the Cross of Calvary, GOD has work for you to do. He commands you to go and share the truth of the Gospel, to love one another, and to encourage one another as we grow together in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
If you have never surrendered to GOD on His terms and been born again by faith in His finished work that paid the penalty for your sIn, GOD calls you to receive Him and the abundant life He has already paid for and promises to all those that believe. He is not willing that anyone should perish, but wants you to come to the knowledge of the truth. The truth about Him, His Word, and His power and presence in you and for you, to give you an abundant life with Him that is everlasting.
Be obedient to His Word, and let His Living Water flow through you today.
