And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. And he said, Hear now My words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make Myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all Mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against My servant Moses? And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and He departed. (Num. 12:5-9)
Miriam, and Aaron as well, though he did repent, should have known better than to confront God with His choices or with His methods. God did not choose Moses because of Zipporah or because he was anything special apart from God but because God knew what He could do with a man who was obedient unto Him. How He speaks to or imparts His Word or directs His vision to anyone is His will and they knew better than to question it, and Aaron quickly repented of his part in being jealous of Moses. For her part, Miriam was leprous for a time but eventually healed because Moses petitioned God not to ultimately reject her despite her arrogance and unbelief.
It is the height of hubris and arrogance for anyone to tell God how He should do anything or how He ought to have said anything. Those who challenge God, especially in the light of what He has revealed about Himself, do so in a state of unbelief. Whether it is arguing over the text of God’s Word or whether God did what He said He did, those who do so do not believe God’s Word no matter what their claim may be and therefore see no problem with denying what God said. Instead of the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge, they begin with their own presuppositions or the fear of man which is folly and then tear down what they do not believe in. Their lack of faith is evident in their actions and their arguments and they are just as guilty of arrogance and foolishness as Aaron and Miriam in confronting our holy and righteous God who will judge them as He has always judged those who oppose Him. Only those who repent and put their faith and trust in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary will be saved and given a new eternal and abundant life in Jesus Christ.
God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our GOD has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of GOD might have life in His Name.
GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
