This is the thing which the LORD doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry. So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. And every daughter, that possesseth an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers. Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance. (Num. 36:6-9)
The laws which God gave to Israel concerning the land were to be remembered and followed when they took possession of the land which God had promised to Abraham and his descendants. They were to divide the land by tribes and families so that each got his portion of the land of Israel. When the tribe of Joseph encountered a potential problem with the division and the inheritance, God had Moses issue additional instructions to keep the divided land within and for each tribe so that no tribe would possess more than their share. God wanted each tribe to settle the land which they were given and not to overtake any of the other tribes in their portion of Israel.
Our inheritance is in Christ. Those of us who are secure in Christ because we have recognized our sinful nature and repented of our sins and received Christ by faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary have no permanent home here as pilgrims and strangers. Though we do the work of the Lord while we are here, He has a place He has prepared for us, an eternal home and inheritance as children of God. Our walk with God does not wait for that home, for our salvation is secured here and now, but He has promised a home with Him we look forward to even as we do His will here on earth. His blood has purchased our redemption and our inheritance and we trust in Him who is our Saviour, our Redeemer, and our King.
While we are here God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our God has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of God so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of God might have life in His Name.
God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. God calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with God, forgiveness from God, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of God who is God the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
