I AM the bread of life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger

9/17/2014

Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from Heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.
And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.
And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning. Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.
And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none. And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. (Exo 16:4-5, 13-15, 19-20, 22, 25-27)

GOD once again provides for His people, but in doing so requires obedience from them that exemplifies His character, and His plan. He gives them bread, but only their daily bread, for they are to trust Him and not store up that which He gives daily. For the Sabbath, He gives enough for two days, and they are to trust Him and not look or gather on the Sabbath. Many of the Israelites failed this test of obedience, for they stored up what was to be daily, and went out and sought that which they should have stored in preparation of the Sabbath. Their was no faith in Go

We are called to daily trust GOD and surrender to Him on His terms, that we might be blessed. Those who have the Spirit of GOD by faith in the finished and perfect work of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary are to walk in faith, knowing whom we have believed, and that He will never leave us or forsake us. Our thoughts and daily actions should be so focused on Him, the bread of life, that we exemplify our GOD to those around us. As we rest in Him, and worship the One who loves us and gave Himself for us, He lives in us and accomplishes His work of sanctification and redemption, until we are glorified and Home with Him.

Until that day, we live in Him and He in us, redeeming the time. Doing the work of GOD, because of what He has done for us, we minister to the hurting and in need according to His will and providence. Through the Spirit, we disciple one another in love and in His Word that we may grow thereby, and become more like Jesus Christ. Under His leadership, we proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to all who will hear and believe, that believing they might have life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. Just as He provided Manna, the bread from Heaven, to His people, He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, and receive the bread of life, now and always.

The Words of the LORD are pure Words

1/24/2014

I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O LORD: I will keep Thy Statutes. I cried unto Thee; save me, and I shall keep Thy Testimonies. I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in Thy Word. Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in Thy Word. Hear my voice according unto Thy lovingkindness: O LORD, quicken me according to Thy Judgment. They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from Thy Law. Thou art near, O LORD; and all Thy Commandments are truth. Concerning Thy Testimonies, I have known of old that Thou hast founded them for ever. (Psalms 119:145-152)

Does our whole heart seek GOD?  Do we desire Him and His Word more than our necessary food?  Do we keep the Commands of GOD as a precious treasure?  Do we seek them early and often, for comfort, for instruction, for guidance or for correction?

What is our attitude toward the Scriptures?  Is it just another book, or is the very Words of GOD?  What do we do when we 'finally' get to the end of the Book, do we put it away on the shelf, or do we start again?  What about the 'dry' parts? Do we just read the good stories, or do we partake of all the books, even the ones hard to understand?

The Psalmist here wrote that he got up before the morning, before the night watches were over, just to hear from GOD and meditate on His Word.  His hope and faith were strong because He knew GOD and continued in His Word.  He didn't waver with each new 'thing' that he heard, for He stood firm on the Solid Rock.

Our obedience to His Word, and our obedience to share it with those we meet, is not an option.  He commands us to hear, to read, to study, to memorize, and to meditate on His Word.  We do so that we may know Him.  The Scriptures speak of Jesus, from the creation of this world, to the final consummation of all things, He is there.  If we would seek Jesus, that is where we must go.

We must also take the Good News, the Gospel of Jesus Christ that we heard and believed to others that they might hear and believe.  We cannot keep the love of GOD to ourselves.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth.  Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal.  Believe His Word and what it says about Him and about you, and surrender to Him on His terms and be born again, and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is real and personal.  Trust His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary for forgiveness and Salvation.  GOD is waiting to hear from you.

We praise Thee O GOD

10/1/2013

Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness. For His anger endureth but a moment; in His favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be Thou my helper. Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: Thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to Thee, and not be silent. O LORD my GOD, I will give thanks unto thee for ever. (Psalms 30:4-5, 10-12)

We praise our GOD continually for His grace, mercy, and love.  He created us to praise Him, we sinned against Him, but He demonstrated His love toward us in that He humbly and willingly took our place on the Cross of Calvary for our sIn.

He has given us who know Him eternal life, and we worship and obey because of who He is and what Jesus Christ has already accomplished in and for us, and what He will continue to do.

He gives us life and every good gift, He provides for all our needs, and will hold us in His hand until we are in His very presence.  He has promised salvation, sanctification, and glorification to all those that believe.  We rejoice in His salvation that continues in us as His Spirit works to do His will in us though His Word.

Trials and tribulations in this life may come, but our GOD is faithful and will never leave us nor forsake us.  And one day we who are His, will eternally praise Him for His everlasting mercy toward us.

We give thanks to our Lord Jesus for His gift of salvation, and all His care.  But, those that don't know Him cannot praise Him for His salvation.  But, GOD is not willing that any should perish, but wants you to enter into a right relationship with Him that is real and personal.  He desires that you believe and be born again and receive by faith a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting.  Surrender to Him on His terms and repent, that is, turn from your sIn, and to a righteous and Holy GOD that wants to forgive you.  Trust Him today.

All nature is singing His Majesty

9/20/2013

The heavens declare the glory of GOD; and the firmament sheweth His handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath He set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. (Psalms 19:1-6)

All nature reveals our GOD.  Even though our world is broken by sIn and awaits the final restoration of all things, it still shows the design and care of our Creator.  Logic and math, beauty and design are all seen in this world.  From the greatest star put exactly where GOD wanted to be, to the smallest molecule of DNA which contains more information than a set of encyclopedias, GOD's work and care for His creation is seen and can be discovered.

GOD does not hide Himself, or His work, and only the foolish reject Him and His revelation of Himself through nature.  But nature, being cursed by our sIn, is only the general revelation of GOD as Creator and Provider.  GOD further reveals Himself through His Word that is more sure than even the sun coming up each day.  One day there will be no more sun, but GOD's Word will remain.

As long lasting as this world seems to be, it will have an end, just as it had a beginning.  But GOD, who is eternal and outside His creation, will never end, and we who are alive in Christ, will live forever with Him.  We are promised this because of His love, and our faith in His finished work on the Cross of Calvary.

Those that don't know Jesus Christ are promised a different eternity, because they have not yet been born again.  Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal.  He is not willing that you should perish, but wants you to repent of your sIn.  Surrender to Him on His terms and be born again. Believe in Him and receive by faith a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship that is abundant and everlasting.

Trust His Word and His revelation of Himself, and His Salvation that is provided and freely offered to you.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. (Psa 139:6)

7/20/2012

Whither shall I go from Thy Spirit? or whither shall I flee from Thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, Thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall Thy hand lead me, and Thy right hand shall hold me. (Psa 139:7-10)

Where can we go that GOD is not present there; to comfort, protect, and yes even correct when necessary.  He is omniscient and omnipresent.  While His throne is in the Heaven of heavens, The Holy Spirit goes everywhere; and most importantly for a Christian, goes with us wherever we go.

David could not get away from GOD, Jonah when he tried could not get away from GOD, we cannot get away from GOD.  And unless we are in rebellion against Him and His Word, why would we want to be apart from our Father, our Saviour, our Redeemer and our King.

Thank Him today for His presence, and His care.

In Christ,
Jefferson A. Sweet
