Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from Heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no. And it shall come to pass, that on the sixth day they shall prepare that which they bring in; and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.
And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.
And Moses said, Let no man leave of it till the morning. Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses; but some of them left of it until the morning, and it bred worms, and stank: and Moses was wroth with them.
And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.
And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none. And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. (Exo 16:4-5, 13-15, 19-20, 22, 25-27)
GOD once again provides for His people, but in doing so requires obedience from them that exemplifies His character, and His plan. He gives them bread, but only their daily bread, for they are to trust Him and not store up that which He gives daily. For the Sabbath, He gives enough for two days, and they are to trust Him and not look or gather on the Sabbath. Many of the Israelites failed this test of obedience, for they stored up what was to be daily, and went out and sought that which they should have stored in preparation of the Sabbath. Their was no faith in Go
We are called to daily trust GOD and surrender to Him on His terms, that we might be blessed. Those who have the Spirit of GOD by faith in the finished and perfect work of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary are to walk in faith, knowing whom we have believed, and that He will never leave us or forsake us. Our thoughts and daily actions should be so focused on Him, the bread of life, that we exemplify our GOD to those around us. As we rest in Him, and worship the One who loves us and gave Himself for us, He lives in us and accomplishes His work of sanctification and redemption, until we are glorified and Home with Him.
Until that day, we live in Him and He in us, redeeming the time. Doing the work of GOD, because of what He has done for us, we minister to the hurting and in need according to His will and providence. Through the Spirit, we disciple one another in love and in His Word that we may grow thereby, and become more like Jesus Christ. Under His leadership, we proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to all who will hear and believe, that believing they might have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. Just as He provided Manna, the bread from Heaven, to His people, He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, and receive the bread of life, now and always.
In Christ,
