My roarings are poured out like the waters

For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest. There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor. The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master. (Job 3:13, 17-19)
Job, in his misery during this first week when his friends and comforters came and lamented his condition, didn't cry out to GOD for answers yet, but wished for death, even crying that he had never been born. Neither wish was helpful at this point, even though his grief was very real and his condition was very painful and grievous. But, even in his lamenting and crying, He didn't charge GOD foolishly.

Those of us who are born again by faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary and trusting in His great Salvation through repentance of our sin, ought not to allow our circumstances to control us, nor should we respond to them, even in trials and tribulations, we ought to be worshipful, grateful, and at rest in Him who is our peace in the midst of the storm. We may not be happy with what is happening around us, or the evil calamities we may suffer in this broken and dying world, but we can be joyful in the Spirit and wait patiently on the Lord. Though all around us may be chaotic and uncontrollable, He is our strength. Though we may not see the goodness in those things which come our way, He is our Lord and is in control, working all things for His glory and for His purpose of conforming us to His image and growing us into the full measure of Him.

For GOD calls His Church to serve, as His ambassadors, not sitting around the meeting house congratulating ourselves on how spiritual we are because we bothered to show up on Sunday, but ministering to those around us who are hurting and in need, with the things of this life, and with the Word of GOD, rightly divided and fitly spoken. GOD commands His children to love one another in fellowship, forgiving and forbearing one another, and as members in particular, even as He loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD that we may grow thereby.  GOD has commissioned and sent His people forth in the power of the Holy Spirit and with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that as we go into this lost and dying world, we may proclaim His Good News of forgiveness of sin through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son that in believing that Jesus is the Christ they might have life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.

That GOD in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the Name of Christ, happy are ye; for the Spirit of glory and of GOD resteth upon you: on their part He is evil spoken of, but on your part He is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify GOD on this behalf. (1Pe 4:12-16)
The things we endure in this world may not make us happy, but we can be joyful and grateful, for our GOD will bring us through it, and use it for His purposes. The joy of the Lord is our strength to endure, and He tells us to give thanks in all things for that is His will for us in Christ Jesus. If He has not directed it to strengthen or correct some aspect of our walk and character, He allows it to occur that we might trust in Him and glorify Him in all things. As we walk by faith in this life, we are to rest in Him and lean on His everlasting arms, secure in His hand, that no matter what we go through, even death itself, He is right there with us, and He will never leave us nor forsake us, and He cannot fail.

The evil and calamity of this broken and dying world is temporary, but for those in Christ, the promise of Glory and our presence with our Lord is eternal. We are to look to eternal things and not temporary, for those who do not know Him, who have never received Him through repentance and faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, their eternity will be spent separated from GOD and suffering eternal punishment for sIn. We have all been judged by GOD and guilty of death. But GOD took our punishment upon Himself that we might live, not only in eternity with Him, but as a new creature in Christ, the eternal and abundant life we were meant to live in Him and through Him. That is the message of Hope which we are to preach and proclaim to all who will hear.

Those of us who are in Christ are to walk in Him in holiness and obedience to His Word that we might shine in this world as His children, ambassadors for the Kingdom and ministers of reconciliation, called to serve those around us who are hurting and in need as GOD blesses us and provides for us to do His will and accomplish His work while we sojourn here in this lost and dying world. His Church is commanded to love one another and disciple one another, perfecting the saints for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the body of Christ as we grow in knowledge of Him who first loved us. GOD has commissioned the people of GOD to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to this lost and dying world, in the power of the Holy Spirit for direction and guidance, and as we go, proclaim the Good News of forgiveness of sin and reconciliation with the Father, that those who repent and believe in Him might have life in His Name.

Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.

Handfuls of purpose

And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD GOD of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust. Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens. And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left. (Rth 2:11-14)
The account of Ruth continues as we meet Boaz, the son of Salmon and Rahab. GOD's unfolding plan of grace, leading to David and to our Lord, continues in the plans and purposes He has for Ruth. He leads her to the field of a near kinsman, who can lawfully restore her land and property, as well as raise up seed and restore her inheritance. This beginning here in the fields of Bethlehem, shows Ruth the compassion and generosity of Boaz, and Boaz begins to see her determination and character. Boaz blesses her, and takes her under his protection and providence.

GOD, who became our kinsman that He might redeem us from death and sIn, has taken those us who have received His free gift of Salvation through repentance and our faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, out of darkness and into His marvellous light. No more strangers and enemies of GOD, He has made us one with Him, not in the divine sense, for we do not become gods, but in relationship and fellowship with our Creator, Redeemer, and King. He now protects us in accordance with His will, not necessarily from all that may happen in this world, nor from the consequences of our own will, but we are secure in His hands as He provides all our needs according to the riches of His grace.

He has saved us to His service, delivered from sin to live unto righteousness. He has called us to minister, as His ambassadors to this broken and dying world, serving and ministering to those around us who are hurting and in need, as He provides. He has commanded us to love one another and to disciple one another in His Word as we fellowship together as members of His body and grow into the full measure of Him. He has commissioned us into His army, soldiers of Christ to witness of Him under His command with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and as we go, in the power of the indwelling Spirit, taking the Good News of repentance and reconciliation with the Father to every one we meet that they might believe and in believing have life in His Name.

Let them that love Him be as the sun

Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves. Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD GOD of Israel. LORD, when Thou wentest out of Seir, when Thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water. The mountains melted from before the LORD, even that Sinai from before the LORD GOD of Israel. (Jdg 5:2-5)
Deborah sang a song of praise unto the Lord for the victory that GOD brought to Israel. She worshiped Him for His deliverance of His people. Though Barak led the armies against their enemies, and Jael nailed Sisera to the floor, it was GOD that gave them the victory. The Lord moved against the enemies of Israel, and they could not overcome the children of Israel. Chariots of iron, fields of soldiers, even the very mountains cannot stand before the LORD GOD Almighty.

If GOD be for us, who can be against us. Though in this life they may seem to be victorious for a season, or even have the upper hand against us for a time, GOD has already won. Our weapons are not carnal, or of this world, but mighty through GOD to the pulling down of strong holds. We don't war against the flesh, but against principalities and powers, that though they have some rule over the darkness of this world for now, they are on a short leash, and thanks be to GOD who hath given us the victory in and through our Lord Jesus Christ.

GOD, put on flesh and dwelt among us, and conquered sin, death, and the grave on that cruel Roman cross when He finished the payment for our sin. He took away all the ordinances which were against us, not so that we could sin all we want to, but so that we could live holy, victorious, and righteous lives in and through Him and shine as lights in this world, and dwell in Him and He in us, until He brings us into His presence and we are evermore with the Lord.

Until then we, as His ambassadors, are called to minister in His Name to those around us who are hurting and in need, as salt and light to a thirsty and dark world that needs to see and know the love of GOD. While we are here, as His children and members one of another, we are to love one another and disciple one another in the Word of GOD, that we may be equipped to heal, encouraged to shine, and enabled to the battle He has already won, as we grow into the image of His Son through His Word and in His Spirit. As long as He tarries we, as His witnesses, are to go out into this lost and dying world with the shining light of His Gospel and praise Him, and as we go, telling all who will hear of the Good News of Jesus Christ, that those who will hear and believe in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary and repent of their sins might have life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the the Truth. During this 'most wonderful time of the year' let us put aside any controversy about the time or the date or the traditions.

Let us remember JESUS.

Let us not be like Zacharias and have doubts.
Let us not be like the inn too busy and too full for HIM.
Let us not be like Herod and Jerusalem intolerant and troubled by HIS Kingship.
Let us not be like the Priests and Scribes knowing the scriptures but indifferent to the Messiah.

Instead, let us join with Gabriel and announce HIS Coming.
Let us join with Mary and surrender to HIS will, pondering all things.
Let us join HIS cousin John and leap for joy.
Let us join the Angel host and proclaim HIS praises.
Let us join the shepherds and find HIM, telling all who will hear of WHOM we have found.
Let us join the wise men and worship CHRIST, presenting ourselves and our gifts to HIM.

AMEN

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all

I charge thee therefore before GOD, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at His appearing and His Kingdom; preach the Word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and Doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the Truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing. (2Ti 4:1-8)
As Paul finishes his last letter to Timothy, and possibly his last letter on this earth, he reminds Timothy, and us, what we are to do most of all and what we are to be about. We are here, left in but not of this world, that we might shine as beacons for our Lord, proclaiming, "Thus saith the Lord" every where He sends us. We are to endure all that comes against us, for it will not do so except at the Lord's direction or allowance. We are to be on mission for Him, ministering, disciplining, and evangelizing, as we go with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in the Power of the Holy Spirit, and leaving the results to GOD.

Then we can say, as Paul did, that we have fought a good fight, not of the weapons of this world, but with the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of GOD. When He is done with us, we can say we have finished all that GOD has given us to do and our race is done, ready to hear those blessed words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord". When He calls us Home, we can say we have endured to the end, and our faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary is more sure than when we believed, and we are ready to depart from this world and enter into His presence.

The hope we have in Him, and His precious promises, ought to spur us to be faithful in ministry, missions, and discipleship, all the while reaching people with the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and a new life in Christ by grace through faith. Because He has blessed and provided for our needs, we minister to those around us who are hurting and in need. Because He has loved us, we love one another and disciple one another through His Word to know more of Jesus Christ. Because of His love of every one and His mercy offered to those who will receive Him, we share from His Word the Good News of the Gospel to all who will hear, that they might believe in Him and repent and have life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the the Truth. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you

Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of GOD in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very GOD of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray GOD your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do it. (1Th 5:14-24)
As Paul wraps up this first letter to the church at Thessalonica, he gives them a list of final thoughts on how the members of GOD's church should conduct themselves. Both to them within the Body of Christ and without, we are to think and act as He would. GOD calls His people to lives that are holy, and without blame, empowered by the Spirit of GOD, and sanctified that others might see Jesus in us, the hope of Glory. We are to be grateful, joyful, prayerful and faithful people as we do His work and will in this world, but not of it, and He works in us both to work and to will of His good pleasure.

Our bodies are to be a living sacrifice, presented unto GOD, holy and acceptable, conformed to His image and not this world. Our minds are to be on Christ, renewed by the Word of GOD and thinking His thoughts after Him. Our spirits are to be sanctified and cleansed, not returning to the beggarly elements of this world, but resurrected and alive in Christ. Our emotions are to under His control that the fruit of the Spirit may grow and reproduce. Every thing we are is to be surrendered to Him just as it was when we received His great Salvation from our sins through repentance and faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary in our place.

As His sanctified saints, we are to serve Him and minister to those around us who are hurting and in need, on mission for our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. As His disciples we are to love one another as He loved us, and disciple one another in His Word, until we all grow up into the full measure of Him. As His witnesses, we are to take the Good News of reconciliation with the Father to this lost and dying world, and as we go, in the power of the Holy Spirit that is within us, we proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ that all that believe in Him and Him alone might have life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the the Truth. The Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another

For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know. For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain. But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you: Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord. For what thanks can we render to GOD again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our GOD; (1Th 3:4-9)

Paul gets personal here with his friends in the church at Thessalonica, relating his experiences and being concerned for their walk in the faith. He rejoices that Timothy brought Him good news of their strength and labour in the Lord and their prayers for him as he continued to minister and be on mission for GOD with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We ought to, despite whatever distress comes our way, pray for one another, and support one another in the faith, that we may be strong in the face of diversity and persecution. We must support those, and walk along side them in the battle, who are fighting the good fight. We are to encourage those who are weary, who are resting or recuperating, not that they will stay in the rec center, but to get back to the fight. Finally, we cannot 'shoot the wounded' when the battle-fatigued and shell shocked come to us for help, strength, and comfort.

We are to bear one another's burdens, weeping with those who weep and rejoicing with those that rejoice. We lift up one another in prayer, whether we know the battle others are facing or not, for we are  members one of another. We equip and encourage each other as we engage and enable people to enjoy Jesus Christ, who is our Head.

He calls us to a mission of service, not to gain or keep that which He has already paid for by His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, but out of genuine love and charity for Him and others. We serve Him as we minister to those around us who are hurting and in need, that they may see Jesus in us, the hope of Glory. We serve Him as we love one another as He loved us,  and disciple one another in His Word. We serve Him as we take His Good News to this lost and dying world that those who hear of repentance and reconciliation with the Father may believe in Him and have life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. Grace be unto you and peace from GOD our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ

We give thanks to GOD always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of GOD and our Father; Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of GOD. For our Gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the Word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: (1Th 1:2-6)
Our work together is the work of the Kingdom, at the direction and in the will of Christ who is our King. Our prayers, one for another, and for the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, are that all may know Him and receive His free gift of Salvation through repentance and faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. Our faith and love for our Saviour, Jesus Christ, leads to good works which He has ordained that we should walk in them, not to earn or keep our Salvation, but because of His love for us, and to share the joy and hope we have in our Lord and our GOD.

Those of us who are secure in our relationship with the Father, resting in our Saviour for eternal life, as Kingdom citizens, do His work and accomplish His will in this sinful and broken world. We work in His power, through the indwelling Holy Spirit, and go where He sends, share what He gives, and speak what He says, until all who will come are abiding in Him and all who are His are grown up into the full measure of Him who is our Head, Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, and He is done with us.

We are His Church, members of His body and of one another. We are His ambassadors, representing Him and His Kingdom with the love that is shed abroad in our hearts. We minister to those around us, as He guides and directs, to meet the needs of those who are hurting and in need, as GOD provides, that others may see Jesus in us, the hope of Glory. We love one another, as He loved us and gave Himself for us, and disciple one another so we all may grow in His Word and our knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, being conformed, not to this world, but to the image of His dear Son. We witness with the Word of GOD, knowing how to answer every man that asketh us a reason of the hope that is in us, with meekness and fear, taking the hope of His Good News of reconciliation with the Father through repentance and redemption through faith to this lost and dying world that they might believe and have life in His Name.

GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Stand fast in the Lord my dearly beloved

9/28/2015

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto GOD. And the peace of GOD, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Php 4:4-8)
Our Christian walk should be joyful for the joy of the Lord is our strength. It should not be frivolous, or consist of inappropriate foolish jesting, or even stern religiousity and formality, for we are to have the mind of Christ from His Word, and do all things for His purposes and for His Glory. We are to take all our cares to Him, for He cares for us, and leave them at the Throne of mercy, that we might find grace to help in time of need. We are to rest in Him, for His burden is light and His yoke is easy, and He is our Sabbath, even while we work and labour in the Lord. All the while keeping our hearts and minds focused on the good things which GOD has blessed us with, and looking to Him and His great Salvation which He paid for with His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary and we receive by our repentance and faith in Him.

All things we hear and see must be filtered through the lens of His Word, and understood not from this world and its temporary condition, but in the light of eternity. GOD's Word is True, every Word is pure, His Law is perfect and His statutes are right. Our Lord, who ever lives to make intercession for His saints, was and is without sIn or fault, the righteous sacrifice for our sIn, and we are to look to Him who is our virtue and righteousness, and the author and finisher of our faith. He created all things, perfect and mature, now marred by sin and the curse, and has redeemed those that repent and surrender to Him on His terms by faith unto Himself, and will one day restore all things and glorify those who are in Him. The Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, our Lord, Saviour, Creator and King, will soon return for His own to take us Home with Him.

Until that day, we are to be of one mind and one heart with Him through the unity of the Spirit, one body on mission for His purposes, His ways, and His Glory. We are His ambassadors, representing the Kingdom and reaching others for Him. We are to minister to those who are hurting, not shooting the wounded, nor rejecting those that are without because they are not of us, but bringing all who will come into the glorious Liberty of the children of GOD. We are to love one another, not just in word, but in deed, as Christ loved us and gave Himself for us, we are to give our lives for the brethren. We are to disciple one another in the Word, that we may all grow in Him, and be conformed to the image of His dear Son, until we all come into the full measure of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and for ever. We are to take His Gospel of reconciliation through His blood to this lost and dying world, that all may hear His Word and repent, putting their faith in the Good News of Jesus Christ and believing in Him for eternal life in His Name.

He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.

In Christ,
Jefferson Sweet
