Mine eye poureth out tears unto GOD

Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest? I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you. But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief. Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased? (Job 16:3-6)
Because of his friends counsel, with its many theological and personal errors and misapplications, Job was not comforted in his suffering at all. As much as they thought they were helping, Job was getting tired of hearing their admonishments and theories. He pointed out that he could be like them and pile on with the tongue lashings, but he knew it was better to be kind and truly comforting with our words. He echoed the psalmist who wanted his words and the meditations of his heart which led to those words to be pleasing to GOD. His friends words were wounding him, making his grief worse, and had even added to his tears.

Our speech ought to be seasoned with salt and full of truth, spoken in love. There may be times for plain and direct words which rebuke, reprove, or correct, but always in love and charity. When we speak the Oracles of GOD it ought to be rightly divided and fitly spoken that we may glorify GOD and edify the hearer. The example of Job's friends shows us that even when we are theologically correct, we can fail to comfort or instruct properly because our knowledge is incomplete, or our use of the Scripture is misapplied. Neither is pleasing to our LORD who has taught us to study His Word, not for knowledge sake, which puffs up, but that we might lovingly edify and encourage those around us even in correction, as we all grow up in Christ.

Those who have never received Christ by faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary by faith and repentance cannot receive the things of the Spirit of GOD which are spiritually discerned. GOD has called us, as ambassadors of Christ, to take the Word of reconciliation and righteousness and with the providence of GOD minister to those around us who are hurting and in need. Our Lord has commanded us to love one another as He first loved us and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD that we may all be conformed to the image of His dear Son. We are commissioned to His service and as His witnesses to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to this lost and dying world that they might be saved, and as we go in the power of the Holy Spirit proclaim the Good News of forgiveness of sin through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son that they might have life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.

Be established in the present Truth

According as His divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2Pe 1:3-8)
Our life is in Christ, who is our Hope, our refuge, our strength, and our peace. We will be glorified, if we are in Christ, when He comes back for His own. Those of us who have repented of our sins and received Jesus Christ by faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, are no longer citizens of this world and the kingdom of darkness. We have been translated into the Kingdom of light, and while we sojourn here for a time, we are now citizens of that Heavenly Kingdom, new creatures in Christ, awaiting the Blessed Hope of His return.

While we wait on the Lord, serving not sitting around, for we are to continue to do all that He has commanded us to do, to make disciples, to baptize those that believe, and to disciple all who are in Christ that they may grow in Him and continue to make disciples, until He is done with us. We rest in Him who is our rest, resting from our labours to save ourselves and taking His yoke upon us and becoming more like Him as He works in us, to produce His fruit of righteousness in us. His children continue in Him and through Him the cycle of growth and obedience which produces fruit in ourselves and in those around us who we are ministering to, through His Spirit and at His command.

God's people are called to minister, as His ambassadors, to represent the Kingdom as salt and light in this dark and broken world that needs healing and Truth, serving those around us who are hurting and in need with the Word of reconciliation as God provides. His children are commanded to love one another and to disciple one another as we become more like Him who first loved us. The Church of God is commissioned to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to this lost and dying world in the power of the Holy Spirit, and as we go proclaiming the Good News of forgiveness and reconciliation with the Father to all who will hear that they might repent and believe that He is the Christ and in believing have life in His Name.

Handfuls of purpose

And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD GOD of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust. Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens. And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left. (Rth 2:11-14)
The account of Ruth continues as we meet Boaz, the son of Salmon and Rahab. GOD's unfolding plan of grace, leading to David and to our Lord, continues in the plans and purposes He has for Ruth. He leads her to the field of a near kinsman, who can lawfully restore her land and property, as well as raise up seed and restore her inheritance. This beginning here in the fields of Bethlehem, shows Ruth the compassion and generosity of Boaz, and Boaz begins to see her determination and character. Boaz blesses her, and takes her under his protection and providence.

GOD, who became our kinsman that He might redeem us from death and sIn, has taken those us who have received His free gift of Salvation through repentance and our faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, out of darkness and into His marvellous light. No more strangers and enemies of GOD, He has made us one with Him, not in the divine sense, for we do not become gods, but in relationship and fellowship with our Creator, Redeemer, and King. He now protects us in accordance with His will, not necessarily from all that may happen in this world, nor from the consequences of our own will, but we are secure in His hands as He provides all our needs according to the riches of His grace.

He has saved us to His service, delivered from sin to live unto righteousness. He has called us to minister, as His ambassadors to this broken and dying world, serving and ministering to those around us who are hurting and in need, as He provides. He has commanded us to love one another and to disciple one another in His Word as we fellowship together as members of His body and grow into the full measure of Him. He has commissioned us into His army, soldiers of Christ to witness of Him under His command with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and as we go, in the power of the indwelling Spirit, taking the Good News of repentance and reconciliation with the Father to every one we meet that they might believe and in believing have life in His Name.

For ye yourselves are taught of GOD to love one another

Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please GOD, so ye would abound more and more. For ye know what Commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of GOD, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not GOD: That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. For GOD hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. (1Th 4:1-7)
To walk worthy of our Lord, we must let Him be in control of all things, our thoughts, words, and deeds. Especially our morality, as Paul points out here. Because those outside the church are watching, we must maintain proper relationships with one another, and behave Godly and Holy, in thought, word, and deed. God calls us to a higher standard from His Word, not to be of the world, or to love the things of the world, nor to be conformed by the world. We are to be separate, to honour God with our substance, our thoughts, our bodies, and everything which we do and say.

We are to love one another, as members of His body, not as the world loves, in the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, but in charity as members one of another in the family of GOD, holy and walking in Him, led by His Spirit and washed by the water of His Word. We are cleansed by our repentance and faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, buried with Christ and raised with Him to walk in newness of life. We are to now reckon ourselves dead, dead to sin and its destruction, dead to this world and its ways, and dead to self and the flesh.

The life we now life by the faith of the Son of GOD who loved us and gave Himself for us, we live as a life of service to our Lord. Not to earn or keep that which He has already paid for, but because of our love and gratitude for who He is, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son and our Lord and Saviour, but also what He has done and is doing in our lives. Because of His example, and at His direction, we serve others around us who are hurting and in need that they may see Jesus in us, the hope of Glory. Because He is the Head of the Body and our Master, we love one another as He loved us, and disciple one another in the Word, conformed to the image of His dear Son. Because of His sacrifice for us, we go with the Gospel of Jesus Christ to this lost and dying world, and as we go, we share Him and the Good News of reconciliation and forgiveness that all may hear and believe and have life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. The Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another

For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know. For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain. But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you: Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord. For what thanks can we render to GOD again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our GOD; (1Th 3:4-9)

Paul gets personal here with his friends in the church at Thessalonica, relating his experiences and being concerned for their walk in the faith. He rejoices that Timothy brought Him good news of their strength and labour in the Lord and their prayers for him as he continued to minister and be on mission for GOD with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We ought to, despite whatever distress comes our way, pray for one another, and support one another in the faith, that we may be strong in the face of diversity and persecution. We must support those, and walk along side them in the battle, who are fighting the good fight. We are to encourage those who are weary, who are resting or recuperating, not that they will stay in the rec center, but to get back to the fight. Finally, we cannot 'shoot the wounded' when the battle-fatigued and shell shocked come to us for help, strength, and comfort.

We are to bear one another's burdens, weeping with those who weep and rejoicing with those that rejoice. We lift up one another in prayer, whether we know the battle others are facing or not, for we are  members one of another. We equip and encourage each other as we engage and enable people to enjoy Jesus Christ, who is our Head.

He calls us to a mission of service, not to gain or keep that which He has already paid for by His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, but out of genuine love and charity for Him and others. We serve Him as we minister to those around us who are hurting and in need, that they may see Jesus in us, the hope of Glory. We serve Him as we love one another as He loved us,  and disciple one another in His Word. We serve Him as we take His Good News to this lost and dying world that those who hear of repentance and reconciliation with the Father may believe in Him and have life in His Name.

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ

Put on therefore, as the elect of GOD, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of GOD rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to GOD and the Father by Him. (Col 3:12-17)
As we live in Christ and He in us, our character and demeanor matters, for we are His. As children of our Heavenly King, we are to put on Christ, filled with His Spirit and bearing the fruit He produces in us. We are to follow and treasure all the wisdom of His Word, and walk in Him who is the Word made flesh. We are to love GOD completely with all of our being surrendered to Him on His terms continuously, and loving others as we love ourselves and as GOD loves them, serving others at His direction and for His glory. Everything we are, and do, and say ought to bring glory to GOD and our Saviour, Jesus Christ, our Creator, Redeemer, and King, and lift up the authority of the Name of Jesus and the Word of Truth which He has magnified above His Name.

His Name is above every name, and worthy to be praised. There is no Salvation in any other, and it is by His authority, extended to us because we are His ambassadors and servants, that we minister to others, as we accomplish His work to this lost and dying world. Jesus Name, is not just an ending to our prayers, that magically blesses whatever we ask for, or guarantees the answer we want, but knowing and asking according to the will and Word of GOD.

His Word is Holy and we are to hear its testimonies for our edification. It is pure and we are to read its Words for our understanding. His Word is true and we are to study its passages to shew ourselves approved unto GOD, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed. It is righteous and we are to memorize its statutes that we might not sin against GOD. His Word is perfect and we are to meditate on its precepts that we might make our way prosperous in our walk with Him. It is without error, cannot fail, given by inspiration of GOD, and He has and will protect and preserve it until all is fulfilled in Him.

His people, born again by the authority of His Name and our repentance and faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, are to serve our Lord in missions and ministry to those around us who are hurting and in need that they might see Jesus in us, the hope of Glory. Washed by the Word of GOD and renewed in our minds, we are to grow through His Spirit and His Word in us, to love one another as He loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word. Saved and Sanctified by His Name and His Word, we are to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ where ever we go, and as we go, tell others of the reconciliation with GOD and the justification that comes by faith and faith alone, that those who believe the Good News and receive Jesus Christ through repentance and trusting Him might have life in His Name.

He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Glorify GOD for your professed subjection unto the Gospel of Christ

But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for GOD loveth a cheerful giver. And GOD is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; He hath given to the poor: His righteousness remaineth for ever. Now He that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. (2Co 9:6-11)
Giving of that which the Lord has given us stewardship over, which all belongs to Him anyway, should be a free outpouring of our love of Christ and our worship of Him. We freely share out of our abundance with those in need as He provides and guides, not unwise, but in charity as a true act of love and worship. We ought not to think of any thing we have, time, talents, possessions, or even money, as ours, but His, and that He allows us to manage it for a time.

Part of that management involves proper use of it to glorify Him, accomplish His work and will while we are here, and to minister to others. It is not forced, nor is it directed by the Church, but given freely and as GOD blesses to the church that they may accomplish that which GOD has called them to do. And not just the budget either, but also our time and talents, given to not just the worship service, but also missions and projects, reaching the lost and discipleship, and ministering to one another in love.

We are bought with a price, and are to submit to our Lord in all things, that His work may be accomplished and He is glorified. We are to minister out of our abundance, not as a show of what we can spare, but out of gratefulness for the blessings of GOD, so that others who are hurting and in need may be blessed. We are to disciple one another in love and in His Word, through His Spirit and in thought, word, and deed, that we may all grow together to the full measure of Christ. We are to proclaim His Gospel of forgiveness through repentance of our sIn, and eternal life through His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, that those who believe the Good News of Jesus Christ and receive Him by faith may have life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward Him

To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
Now thanks be unto GOD, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of His knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto GOD a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? For we are not as many, which corrupt the Word of GOD: but as of sincerity, but as of GOD, in the sight of GOD speak we in Christ. (2Co 2:10-11, 114-17)
Forgiveness of one another is essential to the love and charity that those in Christ are to have and do for one another. If we hold a grudge, or a root of bitterness, or even hatred in our thoughts, it allows the enemy of our souls and the accuser of the brethren an open door to deceive and disengage the people of GOD from not only living the Gospel we preach but also preaching the Gospel we live. If he can get us to focus on ourselves and not the work of GOD then many will not hear the message of Hope that we have.

But GOD, who has already won our victory, gives us His power within to overcome the evil one, by forgiving others, loving one another in truth and charity, and relying on Jesus Christ, who is our everything, for all our needs. Prayerful study of His Word, and prayer for one another, leads to sweet communion with our GOD and Saviour, Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is the Son of GOD, who loved us and gave Himself for us, and with all those who are in Christ. We can love others because He first loved us. We hold fast to His Truth and Keep His Word that we may know Him.

When we know Jesus in Truth through His Word, and fellowship in love with the brethren, We are empowered by the Spirit from on High to accomplish His will and work in this world. We preach Christ that others might be saved through repentance of their sins and faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. We minister to those who are hurting and in need that others will see not only Christ, but their need of Him for Salvation. We disciple one another in the Word that all may grow to the full measure of Christ. We proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to all who will hear, and as we go, preach the Gospel that those who turn from their sin and turn to GOD and believe in Him might have life in His Name.

The fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity. I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,) That ye submit yourselves unto such, and to every one that helpeth with us, and laboureth. (1Co 16:13-16)
Those of us who are in Christ are to watch, using the lenses of Biblical truth from GOD's Word to view all we see, and standing strong and secure in Him because of our faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, not just the mental facts, but a calm assurance that He will save to the uttermost those who have truly repented and surrendered to Him on His terms for Salvation. We are to be equipped and prepared for the battles we face with His Word and are to conduct ourselves as mature men and women in the faith we believe. We are to act toward others with the love of GOD and show ourselves as His disciples to be charitable in all things. We are to serve in His church, under the leadership of those He has called and appointed to be servant leaders of His congregations that we may all be disciplined in His Word and grow and His church may serve others and witness of His love mercy and grace.

Until Jesus Christ is done with and takes us Home to be with Him, we are His servants here to this lost and dying world. As ambassadors of the Kingdom of GOD we are to minister to those who are hurting and in need, as GOD gives the increase that they may see Jesus in us, the Hope of Glory. As His disciples, we are to grow in Him, being conformed to the image of His dear Son, through the Spirit which dwells within and through His Word, and loving one another as Christ loved us, so that others may know we are His disciples. As ministers of reconciliation we are to take the Gospel where ever He sends us, and as we go, share the Good News of Jesus Christ and the forgiveness and relationship with GOD that comes from repentance and faith in Him, so that those who hear and believe may have life in His Name.

Now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. (1Co 13:4-10)
Sacrificial love in action expressed to others with no thought of return or reward. That is the proper expression of charity. We have made it into just alms or giving, but it is in fact a verb describing the outward doing of love. When we exhibit charity toward others, we put up with them, forgiving them in Christ. We celebrate the successes of others and don't try to one-up each other. We don't worry about our 'rewards' for we know that GOD will take care of all our needs and He already knows our accomplishments. In Him and with His strength we can persevere and look to His Word for Truth to endure all that comes our way. All else may fail, but GOD cannot.

But those without Him are lost and without hope in this world, and we need to share Him with them so that they may know Jesus Christ and the Salvation that He offers to those who repent and trust His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. His ultimate act of  charity, in giving Himself in our place and to pay our sIn debt, is the answer to those who are still dead in their trespasses and sins and in need of redemption. All charity done apart from God may be good to this world, but apart from Christ are filthy rags and will not save anyone.

In Christ, we act charitably, not for ourselves or to gain Heaven or miss Hell, but because of the work He is doing in and through us, to conform us to the image of His dear Son, and to bring others to Christ. We minister to the hurting and in need, because God loves everyone and wants all to repent and turn to Him. We disciple one another so that we all may grow into maturity in Christ and be as He is, through His Word and we love one another as He loves us that all may know we are His disciples. We share His love through the Gospel to all that we meet, and as we go, we make disciples, teaching them to observe to do according to all that He commanded. We proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ so that those who hear and believe may repent and receiving Him by faith might have life in His Name.

He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.

In Christ,
Jefferson Sweet
