The LORD is longsuffering and of great mercy

And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me. Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me, Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised. But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness. And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness. (Num. 14:26-33)
When the evil report from the ten spies who did not believe the Lord was embraced by the people of Israel, they feared for their children and accused the Lord of failing them. God’s wrath was kindled against them for their unbelief and arrogant failure to trust His Word. God had heard their murmurings and grumblings concerning His purposes and declared that they would die in the wilderness while wandering for forty years, one year for each day the spies spent in Canaan. All those over twenty would die for their faithlessness in rebelling against the Word of the Lord, except Moses, Caleb, and Joshua. All those under twenty who the Israelites were so afraid would be slaughtered by the giants of Canaan would then enter in as God had commanded.

Forty years of wandering were promised to those Israelites who did not believe God nor trust that He would go before them just as He said He would. The land of the promise was already theirs, all they had to do was go into it by faith and possess it, and they failed to take God at His Word and enter into the Promised Land. Joshua and Caleb had brought a glowing report, built on faith and God’s Word, and the people accepted the evil report brought by the other ten, who saw themselves with the eyes of flesh and trusted their own strength instead of the Word of the Lord. The result of the disobedience and arrogant grumblings against the Lord was forty years of wandering in the wilderness until their children, whom they feared would die in Canaan, grew up to possess the land themselves. The people never entered into the land they feared would swallow them up and died without receiving the promise of the Lord.

So many who have heard the Word of the Lord to repent and be saved will not enter in because of unbelief. They cannot accept that they can be forgiven of all their sins and be pardoned, not to sin more, but to live the live we were meant to live in Christ who is our life. Their pride, unbelief, or anger will not admit their need of God to save them nor will they let go of whatever holds them back from entering into the promise of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. Whether they are blinded by the god of this world, deceived by the great deceiver, or trusting in their own righteousness which is as filthy rags, they remain stubbornly outside all that God offers to those who repent of their sins and receive His gift of eternal and abundant life. Just as the Israelites of Moses time, they cannot see past the giants which they deem too strong to overcome that they might have true victory over whatever has defeated them up to now.

God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our GOD has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of GOD might have life in His Name.

GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.

Is anything too hard for the LORD?

And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain: And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many; And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;
And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. (Num. 13:17-19, 30-33)
Joshua, Caleb, and the other ten scouts (one from each tribe of Israel) are sent out to spy out the land which God had given to Israel. The twelve spies sought information concerning the land, the people therein, and the cities in preparation for their taking possession of the land which God had promised unto Abraham that it would be his and his descendants (Israel). Joshua and Caleb reported that though the inhabitants were many, they could go up and possess the land. The other ten brought a fearful report which saw only the strengths of the inhabitants and not the might of the Lord who would go before them and fight for them. From the Anakins who were giants to the walled cities to the numbers of Canaanites who were well established, the spies who looked through their own eyes at the land saw only problems and defeat.

Though Caleb and Joshua saw the land as favorable and with the help of God already to be possessed, the rest of those who had spied out the land opposed their report and with faithless hearts and fearful minds reported the giants and strength of the people of the land as insurmountable. The ten spies did not see the land as God had said it was but saw their own strength as small compared to the giants of the land and the walled cities. Though they had been sent to gather facts and inspect the land they interpreted their ability to conquer the land colored by their presuppositions and lack of faith when they made their report. Caleb and Joshua had faith in God and knew that He was their strength and the source of their victory so believed that the land was already theirs.

God’s people are to take God’s Word on faith. Not a blind faith or a wishful hope which is baseless and without foundation but a firmly grounded faith built upon the solid Truth of that which He has already revealed. God has given us everything we need to accomplish His mission for His people in His Word as we go forth and reach the lost, teach all nations, and preach His Word. The giants of despair and strong holds in our lives are already overcome by His power and must be made captive and obedient to His Word as we think His thoughts with renewed minds taking heed according to His Word. Our battle is not with the weapons of this world but is mighty through God, the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, a living and powerful Word which will not falter nor fade away. Its inspired, infallible, inerrant Truth is profitable unto God’s Spirit filled people for Doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for Instruction in righteousness. God’s people who study to shew themselves approved unto God are equipped for battle by its Precepts and are able to conquer the temptations and struggles of life by hiding its Words in their heart and living its Statutes and Commandments, rightly divided and properly applied by the living God who dwells within.

Wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned

And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. And he said, Hear now My words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make Myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all Mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against My servant Moses? And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and He departed. (Num. 12:5-9)
Miriam gets jealous of Moses and his direct connection with God, especially after the prophesying of the seventy elders and drags Aaron into a disagreement over the leadership of the Israelites. God came down and confronted them directly for their arrogance against the man He chose to lead Israel and whom He used to deliver them from Israel. God warned them, judged them, then punished her with leprosy only for a time, relenting at the last because Moses pleaded for her and for God’s mercy.

Miriam, and Aaron as well, though he did repent, should have known better than to confront God with His choices or with His methods. God did not choose Moses because of Zipporah or because he was anything special apart from God but because God knew what He could do with a man who was obedient unto Him. How He speaks to or imparts His Word or directs His vision to anyone is His will and they knew better than to question it, and Aaron quickly repented of his part in being jealous of Moses. For her part, Miriam was leprous for a time but eventually healed because Moses petitioned God not to ultimately reject her despite her arrogance and unbelief.

It is the height of hubris and arrogance for anyone to tell God how He should do anything or how He ought to have said anything. Those who challenge God, especially in the light of what He has revealed about Himself, do so in a state of unbelief. Whether it is arguing over the text of God’s Word or whether God did what He said He did, those who do so do not believe God’s Word no matter what their claim may be and therefore see no problem with denying what God said. Instead of the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge, they begin with their own presuppositions or the fear of man which is folly and then tear down what they do not believe in. Their lack of faith is evident in their actions and their arguments and they are just as guilty of arrogance and foolishness as Aaron and Miriam in confronting our holy and righteous God who will judge them as He has always judged those who oppose Him. Only those who repent and put their faith and trust in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary will be saved and given a new eternal and abundant life in Jesus Christ.

A Merry Christmas and a Joyous New Year

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His Name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. (Matt. 1:21-23)
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:11-14)
But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the Law, To redeem them that were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. (Gal. 4:4-5)

It is my prayer that you would rejoice with me in the person and advent of the Saviour of the world, Jesus Christ.

I also pray for you that if you do not have a relationship with Him by faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary that you would repent and receive Him and His gift to you of Salvation. The real Christmas gift was the gift of His Son that you might have life and have it more abundantly. Please read and accept His gift for you this Christmas.

If you are a child of God by faith then I pray that you would celebrate this season all that God has given you and bless God even in His blessings with a grateful heart and joyous worship as you look ahead to what God is going to do in the coming year.

Is the LORD'S hand waxed short?

And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease. But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the Spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp. And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp. And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them. And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put His Spirit upon them! (Num. 11:25-29)
Seventy elders were ordained to assist Moses in the civil leadership of Israel and the Spirit of God came upon them all and they prophesied, speaking forth the Word of the Lord. Two of them were still in the camp when this occurred and Joshua was told of their prophesying in the camp instead of around the tabernacle. Moses rebuked him for his envy and prophesied himself of a day in which all the LORD’S people would have the Spirit of the Lord.

Moses did not feel the need for jealousy or envy when his elders prophesied, whether in the camp or around the tabernacle. Having heard from God that nothing is outside of His ability to accomplish, Moses simply praised the Lord for what He was doing amongst His people and prayed that all would be able to prophesy as the people of God. God’s Spirit is not contained or unable to manifest as He wills but is mighty to save and gives gifts, including prophecy, to whomever He wishes according to His will. Moses rebuke of Joshua was a mild reminder to Joshua that even Moses was not God and it was God who was doing His work among His people not Moses. The Spirit came and went as He willed and according to His purposes but Moses prayed for the day when God would fill all His people and they would speak forth the Word of God.

Since the birth of the Church at Pentecost, God has filled His people with the Spirit of God to do His will and accomplish His work in this world. Each of us who are born again by faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary through repentance and His power unto Salvation are equipped with His Spirit and given His gifts and fruits for His purposes and His glory. He equips and enables us in His work that we might encourage one another and engage people to enjoy Jesus Christ as we reach the lost unto reconciliation with the Father, teach all nations of who God is and what He has done in us, and preach the whole Word to the whole world until He is done with us and calls us Home to be with Him.

Until that day, God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. If the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

12/20/2017

Make thee two trumpets of silver; of a whole piece shalt thou make them: that thou mayest use them for the calling of the assembly, and for the journeying of the camps. And when they shall blow with them, all the assembly shall assemble themselves to thee at the door of the Tabernacle of the congregation.
Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I AM the LORD your God. (Num. 10:2-3, 10)
God ordained two trumpets, for war, for alarm, and to call the people to assemble. Each trumpet was to be fashioned from a single piece of silver and their use was directed as a perpetual ordinance among the children of Israel. When the Israelites assembled together before the Tabernacle they used the trumpets to call the leaders, then the east and south, and finally all the people. They would sound the alarm, call for an assembly, or worship the LORD with the sound of the trumpets.

Giving a certain sound, which could be understood as an alarm, or a call to assemble, or a call to praise and worship, the trumpets of silver were not only useful in gathering their large encampment together but also to remind the Israelites of their call before God to purity, holiness, and unity as the people of God. They were to be united in purpose, called to battle, or assembly, or worship, with a bugle of warning or a song of praise. The trumpets themselves were of one piece of silver signifying the purity and unity of God and of the people before Him. The silver trumpets were to give a clear sound that all might understand the alarm, the call to assemble the leaders or the whole camp, or the worship of the people before God.

Today God’s people are to hear the unified call of the Holy Spirit to accomplish His work of missions, ministry, and discipleship as we reach the lost, teach all nations, and preach the Word of God until we hear the trumpet call to join our Saviour in the clouds. We worship in Spirit and in Truth with a clear call to assemble together and rejoice in Him who gave Himself for us that we who have trusted Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary for Salvation and repented of our sins would have eternal life in Him. We give a clear sound of the Gospel from His Word that all might be saved and born again until He signals the final assembly of His Church with Him.

Until that day, God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. According to the Commandment of the LORD

12/19/2017

And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed. Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed. At the Commandment of the LORD they rested in the tents, and at the Commandment of the LORD they journeyed: they kept the charge of the LORD, at the Commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses. (Num. 9:21-23)
Whenever the cloud by day or the fire by night which signified the presence of the Lord lifted up, the children of Israel would break camp and follow. Whenever the cloud came to a stopping place, the Israelites would set up the tabernacle and make camp. Whether it was for a day or a week or for a month, the Israelites would travel or rest as the Lord led them, they would move when the cloud moved and rest when the pillar of fire rested, all at the Command of the Lord.

The Israelites during their wandering in the wilderness always moved or stayed as the Lord led them. When the cloud lifted up they would take down the tabernacle and break camp and follow the Lord wherever the cloud went. When the cloud, or the pillar of fire by night, stopped, the Israelites would set up the tabernacle and their tents and make camp. It didn’t matter how long God had for them to stay or travel they did it all at the command of the Lord through Moses who followed the cloud or pillar which represented the presence of the Lord and His direction.

Today we have the same Spirit which led the Israelites through the wilderness and the Word of God to guide our steps along the Way. The Spirit of God dwells within each believer who has trusted Jesus Christ for forgiveness of their sin through faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. The same Spirit who showed Himself as a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night now manifests in the life of each of His people as they are obedient unto Him. He manifests gifts that His people may accomplish His will and do His work of reaching those who are lost and who do not have a right relationship with the Father through repentance and faith. God still commands His people to go where He sends and do what He wills, in missions, ministry, and discipleship as we reach the lost, teach all nations, and preach the Word until all who will have believed.

God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. The service of the tabernacle of the congregation

12/18/2017

And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them. And the Levites were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as an offering before the LORD; and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them. And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them. (Num. 8:20-22)
The servants of the Lord in the tabernacle were dedicated unto the Lord who had called them unto Himself. The Levites were set apart and sanctified, made holy by the Lord, and offered unto the Lord for a perpetual service in the tabernacle of the Lord. All the people obeyed God and set the tribe of Levi apart from the rest of the people and dedicated them unto the Lord in their service unto Him and the people of God in the tabernacle.

God had declared that the Levites would be holy unto God, set apart because God had redeemed the firstborn in their exodus from Egypt. The children of Israel dedicated and consecrated the Levites to their service with ceremonial washings and offerings to demonstrate their holiness unto the Lord and to offer them unto the Lord in their service unto Him. He called the Levites to a perpetual service of offerings and work in the tabernacle and eventually the Temple as His servants and ministers of the people.

God calls all of His people to service unto Him and we are dedicated unto Him and many ordained in recognition of that service. God has commanded us to offer ourselves unto Him as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable, cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ, and purified by His grace because of our faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. He determines where we should serve Him in ministry, missions, and discipleship, and wants all His people to witness of Him that others may know and repent of their sins. His people are priests and ministers, to bring others to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ in repentance and faith until all who will come have received His wonderful gift of Salvation.

Dedicated unto God

And it came to pass on the day that Moses had fully set up the tabernacle, and had anointed it, and sanctified it, and all the instruments thereof, both the altar and all the vessels thereof, and had anointed them, and sanctified them; That the princes of Israel, heads of the house of their fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over them that were numbered, offered: And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen; a wagon for two of the princes, and for each one an ox: and they brought them before the tabernacle.
And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with Him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the Ark of Testimony, from between the two cherubims: and He spake unto him. (Num. 7:1-3, 89)
After following all the instructions concerning the tabernacle of the Lord and then setting it up in the center of the camp, Moses performed all the rituals God had directed to sanctify the tabernacle as holy and dedicate it to the Lord with offerings from each tribe of the children of Israel. Each offered free-will offerings unto the Lord to bless the Lord and the tabernacle where God would meet with the people. Moses went in to the tabernacle to meet with God and the Lord spoke unto him from between the cherubims which stood over the mercy seat where the blood of the atonement was poured.

God accepted the offerings from His people and showed Himself unto Moses and spoke from the Ark of the Covenant. The people offered of themselves and gave willingly unto the Lord and the Lord was pleased with all that was offered in dedicating the tent of meeting and sanctifying it unto the service of the Lord. When all was done He spoke to Moses, the prophet of God, from between the cherubims which stood atop the Ark of the Covenant and looked over the mercy seat. God met with Moses following the dedication of the tabernacle.

Today, our meeting places are not the dwelling place of the Lord but simply campuses for the gathering of His people. God dwells within those who are His, who have surrendered to Him on His terms of repentance and faith, and received Him by grace through faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. The Israelites dedicated the tabernacle, and later the temple, unto God, and today, we the people of God dedicate ourselves unto His service as His people and His Church. Those who are saved by His grace and born again are committed unto Him and offer ourselves as living sacrifices unto God, new creatures in Christ living the life we were meant to life, and eternal and abundant life in Him and through Him who dwells within us.

The blessings of the LORD

Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put My Name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. (Num. 6:23-27)
The blessings of the Lord upon His people. He alone keeps and guards His people from their enemies. The Father of lights gives all good gifts and is gracious unto His own. He watches and cares for those He has chosen for His service and He alone can give peace. His Name alone is holy and above all others and His people are blessed because of His grace, mercy, and love.

God gave Aaron this specific benediction to remind the Israelites that He alone give all blessings and all good gifts. Aaron was to bless the Israelites with this reminder of all of God’s goodness and grace, that He alone would keep them as a strong tower, and watch over them as a Father watches over his children and gives them peace, security, and safety. The Prince of Peace, Almighty God, and our everlasting Father is just and gracious in all His blessings.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God who is God the Son is the instrument of His peace with all who will surrender to Him on His terms. God calls all who are still in rebellion against Him to repent and be born again that they might receive the ultimate blessing of God, a new life in Him by His grace through faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. He is gracious and saves those who come to Him. Our Father gives every good gift in His time and according to His will and His Spirit saves us and keeps us safely and securely in His arms. As those who are His grow in Him we learn that He alone is Blessed and all blessings come from Him who alone is worthy of all honour and praise for all His bountiful gifts.

God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides.
