For thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall make thee a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon thee, and great waters shall cover thee; When I shall bring thee down with them that descend into the pit, with the people of old time, and shall set thee in the low parts of the earth, in places desolate of old, with them that go down to the pit, that thou be not inhabited; and I shall set glory in the land of the living; I will make thee a terror, and thou shalt be no more: though thou be sought for, yet shalt thou never be found again, saith the Lord GOD. (Ezekiel 26:19-21)
GOD now begins a pronouncement of destruction on the city/nation of Tyre and its surrounding peoples. These too, were the enemies of Israel and Judah and had harrassed the Jews for many years. They had become a strong force in the area and thought their city was impenetrable and unreachable. GOD tells them through the prophet Ezekiel, that He will destroy them and nothing can prevent it. GOD will carry out His judgments, and only His mercy will stay His hand. The destruction of Tyre, when it came was complete and set Babylon up as the ruler of the 'World' at that time. It happened just as GOD has foretold, and occurred in GOD's good timing. There is nothing on this earth that GOD is not aware of, or has no control over.
We in the Church can trust, that while we are doing the Will of GOD, there is nothing that occurs that GOD does not have His hand in. Our enemies, while seeming to have the upper hand for the moment, will go down to the pit, just as Tyre did. GOD will take care of us, and whether He removes our obstacles, or brings us through, We are to rely on His strength, grace, and power to accomplish everything He wants us to do. Just as Ezekiel had to tell the nations around Judah of the Judgment of GOD, so we have to tell the people around us of His wrath to come. Not to condemn them, for they are already under condemnation, but to offer them the Good News that Jesus Christ has already paid their sIn debt, and they can be forgiven.
We don't offer them 'fire insurance' or a 'get out of Hell free card', or even a place, but a person. A relationship with Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son. He is not willing that any should perish and wants you to come to the knowledge of the Truth. The Truth that He loves you and willingly went to the Cross of Calvary for you, and that if you Believe in Him and receive Him by Faith in His finished work He will establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Jesus wants you to be born again, surrender to Him on His terms and receive His free gift of a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting.
If you are a child of GOD, warn those that are without and tell them of GOD's love and mercy.
