Then Joshua built an altar unto the LORD God of Israel in mount Ebal, As Moses the servant of the LORD commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, an altar of whole stones, over which no man hath lift up any iron: and they offered thereon burnt offerings unto the LORD, and sacrificed peace offerings. And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the Law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel. And all Israel, and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, which bare the ark of the Covenant of the LORD, as well the stranger, as he that was born among them; half of them over against mount Gerizim, and half of them over against mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded before, that they should bless the people of Israel. And afterward he read all the words of the Law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the Book of the Law. There was not a Word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them. (Jos 8:30-35)
After the victory over Ai, at the direction and under the mighty hand of GOD, Joshua and the people of Israel worshiped GOD. They reviewed the Word of GOD, reading all the Words to the people, and reminded themselves of His majesty, power, Commandments and providence for the His people. Reading GOD's Word in praise reminded them of His love, but also His judgments and corrections upon those who oppose GOD and those He chastens because He loves them. All that were present of the people of GOD heard His Word and rejoiced and praised the GOD of the Word because of His victory and because He is worthy of all our praise.
We ought to praise our GOD, worshiping Him not only in Spirit and in Truth as He desires, but in love and with His Word. We ought to sing His psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in our hearts to the Lord who has purchased us with His own blood for He is worthy. We who are born again, not by our own will or works, but by His power and Spirit, because of our repentance and our faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary ought to love His Word as a love letter to us. We should hear, read, study, meditate, and memorize the History book of the Universe and praise Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, who created us in His image, has redeemed us from our sIn through His great Salvation, and has given us His Word that we might know Him and He might live it in us, until the day He bring us unto Himself that we might be with Him where He is.
Until that day, equipped with His Word to the ministry He has given us, we are to forth and in His power and at His direction, accomplish His work and do His will in this lost and dying world. As ministers of reconciliation, we are to take the Word of reconciliation and minister to those around who are hurting and in need that they might see Jesus in us, the hope of Glory. As disciples of our Master, the Lord Jesus Christ, we are to love one another even as Christ also loved us, and disciple one another in His Word that we might grow thereby into the full measure of Him. As witnesses of His majesty, power, and redemption, we are to take the Gospel, and as we go, share the Good News of Jesus Christ with all who will hear that they might repent and believe and in believing have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
