And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: and, as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto Him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. And He closed the book, and He gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on Him. And He began to say unto them, This day is this Scripture fulfilled in your ears. (Luke 4:16-21)
God had indeed anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Spirit of God and with power, for He was God. The Father sent the Son to proclaim the Gospel and be the Good News of Salvation for all people. The Spirit led Jesus, from the wilderness throughout the cities and towns of Judea and Galilee to Jerusalem and the Cross. The Son obeyed the Father and always did His will in ministry, in choosing His disciples, and in humble submission to the Cross in our place. The Good News of Jesus Christ is deliverance for those bound by sin, blinded by the god of this world, and broken before God. God makes new what sin and this world have cast aside and destroyed. The Balm of Gilead has come to heal the sin-sick soul and give sight to the blind.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ, that He came to save sinners, is the cure for sin. Jesus earthly ministry was always aimed at the ultimate deliverance He would provide through faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary for sin. The reconciliation with God that only comes from repentance and faith in Christ is by the grace of God given to all who come to Him on His terms and surrender. The soul ravaged by sin and their sinful choices can be made new by the power of God. Those blinded by their sin and captive to all that sin drives us to do can be delivered and released, not to sin more or continue in sin, but free, at liberty to live the life we were meant to live, life that is truly life in Christ. As children of God, Christians have the cure, the hope that is within us, the answer no matter what the question, the Good News of Salvation and redemption to all who will hear. We are to reach the lost that they might be saved, teach the nations all He commanded, and preach His Word to the whole world until all who will come to God are born again and He is done with us.
God has sent those of us who are His saints and know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our God has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of God so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of God might have life in His Name.
God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. God calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with God, forgiveness from God, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of God who is God the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
