And it shall come to pass, that the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from Me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you. And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers' houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods. And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness. And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds. (Num. 17:5-8)
God was reminding His people that He is the giver of life and He chooses whom He will choose to serve Him and how they were to serve. He is the one who sets up men and nations and places them in the body as He wills. God had set up the Levites as priests and ministers of the tabernacle and Aaron as the High Priest was consecrated before God as the intermediary between God and the people. God had chosen him to serve the people and to minister as the High Priest and here He confirms that choice following the rebellion of Korah and the others who sought power instead of service.
Ministers in the church of God are called by God and confirmed by the people of God. We are to remember that regardless of where our service is and to whom we serve God by our service to others. Those who know God and are born again through repentance and faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary are to serve where God puts us as He accomplishes His work in and through us. We are His workmanship to do His work on this earth as His servants. We are chosen, not to salvation for God is not willing that any should perish, but to be conformed to the image of His dear Son and to the service in the body of Christ which He commands. We are sanctified as His people to reach the lost, teach all nations, and preach the Word whenever and wherever He directs until all who will surrender to God on His terms and be reconciled unto God in this church age have done so and He is done with us.
Until that day, God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our GOD has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of GOD might have life in His Name.
GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
