And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation. And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them. Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph. And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we: Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour. And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, ... And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live. But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.
And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive. (Exo 1:6-10, 14-17, 22)
Moving along to the book of Exodus we see that a change has occurred. Not only has Joseph passed, along with his generation, but a new king has arisen over Egypt. A new dynasty that is unaware of Joseph, or his legacy and part in the history of Egypt. This new king fears the strength and disposition of the people of Israel, and then the king and people of Egypt take steps to control the population of Israel. They think that by putting them to rigorous work and killing the male babies, that it will not only demoralize the nation, but eliminate their opportunity to grow strong and mighty as a nation. It would have worked too, except they forgot to account for GOD, whom they also did not know, and His plan and purposes for His people.
Many tyrants and armies that have opposed Israel have forgotten GOD, or dismissed him as Israel's GOD. But, He is the GOD of the Universe, the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, and He is on His throne. He had a plan and a purpose for Israel, and as it continues to unfold here, though for a time their plight is perilous, GOD will intervene, and bring forth one to deliver them from their bondage.
We have a message to tell to the nations, that One has come forth to deliver all from their bondage to sIn; who can break the cycle of addictions, redeem them from the curse of the Law, and give Liberty to all who will trust in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary for forgiveness of their sIn and eternal life. Trust in Jesus is not a license to sIn, or immunity with GOD; for we must repent, that is surrender to Him on His terms and bring forth works that demonstrate our repentance, but it is a right relationship with GOD the Father through Jesus Christ, His only Begotten Son, who paid our sIn debt and commands us to go and tell, and as we go, proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to all who will hear and believe, and believing have Life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. Because of your need of Him, He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new heart in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
