But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. (Mat 23:5-10)
Jesus cautioned His hearers to not look to the ways of worldly men, especially religious leaders who don't follow the Word of GOD in Truth, but as a show, to lift themselves up, or to entrap their followers. Whole religions follow this pattern, and yet our Lord decries it as hypocrisy and self-righteousness, especially for those who claim to follow Christ. He pointed out the false piety and practice of those who say, and do not; of those who lift themselves up and insist on titles without the blessing or call of GOD reflected in their servant heart. We are to point people to Jesus Christ and His Salvation, not make them more the child of Hell than they already are.
When we take our eyes of Jesus Christ, and don't search the Scriptures daily to see if the things we are hearing are true, we are easily manipulated and mislead by those who are charlatans in religious garb, or wolves in shepherds clothing. Both are to be exposed and avoided, for they will lead us away from the Truth of GOD and His Word, and our witness for Christ, if we have one, will be damaged at best, and worthless and we will become a castaway in the service of our GOD. Those that stray away from the things of GOD and His covenant relationship, may indeed be born again themselves, or they may not be a true child of GOD, but they will certainly not introduce others to a saviour they are misrepresenting, or no longer worshiping in Spirit and in Truth. That is the real tragedy, and the workings of our enemy.
We must strive to live in Christ, and He in us, so that others may see Jesus in us, the hope of Glory. In His power and for His glory, we serve others, ministering to the hurting and in need as GOD gives the increase. We are to disciple one another, and search the Scriptures so that we learn of Him, keeping our hearts and ears open to the voice of the True Shepherd, so we are not led astray or deceived. We must go and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to those who need to hear and believe, that they may place their faith and trust in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary and be saved. As we go, we must live the Gospel we preach, speak the Truth in love where GOD sends us, and share Him with all who will receive Him by faith, that they may have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
