Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD GOD of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria: This is the word which the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee. Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 37:21-23)
Our GOD is bigger than our circumstances. When our enemies come against us, and make threats or attack us verbally or physically we know that in reality they are attacking our GOD. Just as Cain slew Abel because he was mad at GOD and refused to repent of his rebellion, so do those that come against us do so because of their animosity and rebellion to our Righteous and Holy GOD.
Our Lord told us that in this world we would have trouble, and just as this pagan king came against Jerusalem we sometimes are surrounded and seemingly overcome by our enemies. But, GOD is in control, nothing surprises Him and He has overcome the world. We are more than conquerers through Him that loves us. We will perservere. Just as the people of Israel came through this particular siege under the mighty hand of GOD, and the opponents of GOD were vanquished and destroyed, so shall we resting in Jesus come through. Battle scarred and weary, but we are victorious because we are secure in Christ.
The lost person, who has never received Jesus Christ and surrendered to GOD on His terms is not so. GOD has already declared our guilt before Him, and those of you that have never been born again are still in your sins. But, GOD is not willing that any should perish but wants you to come to the knowledge of the truth. Believe His Word and be saved to a new life in Christ that will begin a journey of discipleship and will never end.
If you are a child of GOD, stand strong in the strength that comes from GOD and be victorious.
