For I AM the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am Holy. This is the Law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth: To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten. (Lev. 11:45-47)
Because God is Holy, perfect, and pure, His people were expected to be an example to the nations and to maintain standards as His people that set them apart. What they kept for food or gathered was to be different from what all the other nations ate indiscriminately. There were many reasons for God’s choices, cleanliness, diet, health, and preparation requirements, but the biggest reason of all, is to separate themselves figuratively as well as in their diet choices from the other nations. Israel had to see themselves different, not better but separated, for them to understand what holiness and separation was all about.
God is Holy and all who are His are to be holy and separated from the world. We are not to do as the world does, or practice our former live choices, for we are now to be clean and sanctified before God as His children. Our understanding of what God told Israel as to their diet choices is not for us to try to emulate what is clean and unclean in food, but to understand that there must be a difference between the holy and the profane, the sacred and the secular. We are to be different, wherever God puts us, to shine as lights in the darkness, to show others their need of Christ. We are not to live as the world lives and go through our lives as if God, and His righteousness and holiness, doesn’t matter. We are His people and we are to be different, not better, but separated and sanctified by His presence that others might see the difference.
God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our GOD has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of GOD might have life in His Name.
GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
