And touching the house of the king of Judah, say, Hear ye the Word of the LORD; O house of David, thus saith the LORD; Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor, lest My fury go out like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings. Behold, I am against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain, saith the LORD; which say, Who shall come down against us? or who shall enter into our habitations? But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD: and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall devour all things round about it. (Jer 21:11-14)
The Israelites referenced in this passage had for too long ignored or oppressed the poor and downtrodden, acting as though GOD did not exist or had no affect on their lives. When GOD finally had had enough, He exercised His righteous anger and judge the nation. Both kingdoms were destroyed eventually and scattered and taken into captivity. Many died for their disobedience and sIn. GOD gave them many warnings, but eventually the destruction came. GOD is serious and He is not mocked. You are either for Him or against Him, there is no middle or neutral ground. Whether it is a nation, a people, a congregation or an individual, we reap what we sow; thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold Judgment for sIn will come.
The wages of sIn is death. GOD is not willing that any should perish. IF you have never surrendered to GOD on His terms and been born again, GOD calls you to repent and believe His Word. Receive Him by Faith in His finished work on the Cross of Calvary on your behalf. Jesus loves you and wants to enter into a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. He freely offers you a new life of discipleship and fellowship that is abundant and everlasting.
Choose you this day whom you will serve.
In Christ,
