When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. (1 Corinthians 13:11)
Acting childlike is expected in a child. Acting childish when we are supposed to be grown up is sIn. We who are of the Church of GOD are expected to not only grow up physically and mentally, but also spiritually. Just as we would not hand the keys to a toddler and expect a ride, neither can we hand a new Christian a towel and a teacher's guide. But the reverse is even more imperative: Just as a twenty year old baby is a disgrace or seriously impaired so is an immature Christian that has been in the Faith long enough to know better. They are disobedient to the Word of GOD, and have also been failed and deceived by his local congregation. The local assembly of believers is to disciple all believers so that they are skilled in the Word of GOD.
Too many saved saints are satisfied with being spiritual babes and are an embarrassment to the Church of GOD. GOD calls all of us who are members of His Church to put away childish things and grow up; in the Word and in the Work of GOD. For too long we have dumbed down the Gospel, and made it too simple so that anyone could do it; so much so that we are now actually preaching another gospel, which is no gospel at all.
And all those that are without salvation, that are not yet born again; GOD calls you to the new birth that comes from understanding your sIn, your separation from GOD and the condemnation you are under until you repent and surrender to GOD on His terms. Accept His free gift of love and grace and begin a new life in Christ that leads to a mature relationship with GOD Himself by faith.
The call from GOD is clear. The question is: will you answer Him today? The choice is yours.
