And he shall lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood thereof upon the altar round about. And he shall offer thereof his offering, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD; the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards, And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away. And the priest shall burn them upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a sweet savour: all the fat is the LORD'S. It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that ye eat neither fat nor blood. (Lev. 3:13-17)
God prescribed a continual and specific offering for sin in the place of the guilty. Sin has earned everyone death and God had the Israelites offer an animal in their place. The faithful would lay hands on the animal demonstrating the transfer of sin and the animal would die and be offered unto the Lord. The blood was to be shed and sprinkled upon the alter, for the life was in the blood. The fat was to be burned as a demonstration of the burning of the guilty before God who has passed judgment upon all men and condemned the guilty. The Israelites were told not to consume the fat offered on the alter nor any blood because of these prescriptions and demonstrations of God, His holiness and righteousness, and our guilt before Him.
Understanding that though the Levitical laws God prescribed for the priests to offer sacrifices for sin are no longer necessary because Jesus has offered Himself as the last and perfect sacrifice for sin, we are still to be holy before God and offer ourselves as living sacrifices. We are not to mix the worlds ways with God’s nor are we to offer anything to God which He has not prescribed. Those who are forgiven in Christ because of our faith in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary are free, not to sin or do our own will, but to live in Christ the life He wants us to live through Him. His blood has been sprinkled on the altar of God that we might be cleansed by its power and made a new creature in Christ. The spiritual fat and unholy ways within us are being purged in this life as we are sanctified by His Word until we are completely made new and glorified in His presence.
Until that day, God sends us out into this world to reach the lost. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our GOD has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of GOD might have life in His Name.
GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
