And He said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in His own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when He had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven. (Acts 1:7-11)
The Apostles saw Him for many days after His resurrection, began to understand much of what He taught them, but still expected an earthly Kingdom to be established at that time. Jesus corrected their thinking and encouraged them to wait on the Lord and the giving of the Spirit which would come at Pentecost. Immediately after His last instructions, He ascended to the Father, and the Apostles were admonished that they couldn’t just stand there gazing for His return, but to go as He had instructed them while they waited for His return.
Our Lord is alive, has empowered His people to do His work in this world, and intercedes even as He rules from His throne over His Spiritual Kingdom. His Spirit has directed His people as missionaries, preachers, servants, and disciple makers around the world, beginning where they are, taking the message of eternal life to all who will hear. He will come again to physically rule on this earth and has commissioned His servants to continue His work and share Him and His Word to the whole world.
God has directed His Church to be about Kingdom work, even as we wait for His return. We are to serve Him, doing what He has called us to do in our communities, our neighborhoods and counties, our country, and to the uttermost parts of the world, until He calls us Home.
Until we meet the Lord in the air, God calls His people to holiness and obedience to Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our GOD has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of GOD might have life in His Name.
GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
