Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's matters would stand: for he had told them that he was a Jew. And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath. And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai. (Est 3:4-6)
It was soon told to Haman about Mordecai’s refusal to bow to him and Haman began a plot to exterminate not just Mordecai but all the Jews throughout Persia. His anger was not just aimed at Mordecai, but to all Jews (since he was an Amalekite as well as a Persian) both in Shushan but also throughout Persia.
Your circumstances may seem dire and the plots against you egregious, but God is still in control. Regardless of what comes our way, we must choose, as Moredecai did, whether to obey God or men. We may suffer, in fact the Scriptures tell us we will suffer, but we should suffer for doing what is right and holy, not what is convenient or wrong. Going along with the crowd may get us somewhat accepted for a time, like Lot back in Abraham’s day, but the world will not accept us or appreciate us for long when we try to be like them but are not. There will come a day when we must make a stand, as Mordecai did here, and we will have to decide whom we will obey and serve, God or with the world.
While we are here, God calls His people to holiness and obedience to Him while we minister to those around us who are hurting and in need, as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our GOD has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of GOD might have life in His Name.
GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
