Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them. For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey My voice. Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not. (Jeremiah 11:6-8)
GOD is serious about sIn. Since He is Holy and just He must punish all sIn, whether it is idolatry, disobedience, or rebellion to His Word. All sIn is disobedience and rebellion to GOD's Word in SELF-reliance, and we've been doing it all too well since the fall of man when Adam sinned. Without the sacrifice that Jesus offers in our place and our repentant acceptance of His free gift we would be men most miserable and lost forever.
GOD tells us to observe to do all that He has commanded, and only in His power can we truly do that. When we turn to Him, and trust Him He gives us an abundant life in Him that is everlasting, and then begins to conform us to the image of His dear Son. Through His Word, and His Body, the Church we hear His voice and obey; or we can go and 'do our own thing' and be in rebellion and under His chastisement. He still gives us the choice, just as we had the choice to choose Him for our Salvation.
That choice is still offered to those that don't yet know Him. GOD is not willing that any should perish, but wants you to come to the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants you to enter into a covenant relationship with Him by grace through faith. Believe His Word and receive Him. Surrender to Him on His terms and be born again and He will give an abundant life of discipleship and fellowship that is everlasting.
Don't put off what GOD has spoken, be obedient to Him today.
