; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon. And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife. And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how And Isaac dwelt in Gerar: And the men of the place asked him of his wifesaidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her. And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us. (Gen 26:6-10)
GOD is not pleased with our sIn, and will chastise us for our disobedience as His children. It may cost us to reconcile with GOD and with others, but it may be required by GOD, for true repentance means a change of heart and mind regarding our sIn. While our relationship with Him can never be broken once we are truly born again, for we are secure in His hands, our fellowship can be strained and our testimony damaged, even to the loss of our ministry, by our sIn.
GOD is serious about sIn, judgment and grace. He commands us to warn the unruly, that they may repent and restored into a right relationship with GOD. He has commissioned us to take His Word and the Gospel of Jesus Christ to this lost and dying world. He calls us to ministry; to the hurting as He provides and blesses, to one another in discipleship and His Word, and to the lost that as we go and tell, they may hear and believe, and believing have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. Turn away from your sIn and unrighteousness as Isaac did and trust what He has already done on that cruel Roman cross. Just as GOD provided for Isaac, He has provided forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, and is our Life. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life.
In Christ,
