And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break My covenant with them: for I AM the LORD their God. But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I AM the LORD. These are the Statutes and Judgments and Laws, which the LORD made between Him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses. (Lev. 26:44-46)
The covenant which God established with Abraham is an everlasting covenant with all who come to God on His terms and put their trust in Him and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary. It was also an everlasting covenant with the nation of Israel, not to save individuals apart from faith through grace, but to establish that nation and to give the land promised to Abraham unto His descendants. Israel’s status as a nation did not mean that individuals were saved just because they were Jews but that the nation was chosen to serve God and to proclaim Him to the Gentiles. God would keep His promises to His people and His people were to keep and obey His Law by faith in Him.
Though we today are not under the Law that does not mean the Law has been abolished just that it is fulfilled in Christ who kept the Law perfectly and gave Himself that those who could not keep the Law because of sin could become the righteousness of God in Him. His death on the cross means that all those who repent of their sins and put their trust in Christ and what He did on that cruel Roman cross in their place can be born again and have eternal life by faith through grace. Today, though the church does not replace Israel and God’s promises are still in place and will be kept concerning the nation of Israel, God’s grace is extended to all who believe as Abraham did in the Messiah and in the work and will of God. We follow His principles and the context of the Law because of Christ. We don’t seek to keep or get that which God offers by grace but serve Him who loved us and gave Himself for us. God has not abandoned Israel but neither has He forsaken any who come to Him on His terms.
God has sent those of us that know Him out into this world to reach the lost that they might be saved from sin. He desires that His people strive to be holy and obedient unto Him that we might minister to those around us who are hurting and in need as He provides. We serve others, equipped with the Word of reconciliation and righteousness, rightly divided and fitly spoken, that they may see Christ in us, the hope of Glory. Our GOD has commanded us to love one another with an unfeigned love, even as He first loved us, and to disciple one another in the Word of GOD so that we may all grow in grace and in the Knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Lord has commissioned those who are His with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to go where He sends us in the power of the Holy Spirit. As we go, we are to proclaim the Good News of forgiveness through repentance and reconciliation with the Father through faith in His Son, that those who believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah of GOD might have life in His Name.
GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to faith in Christ and His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD, forgiveness from GOD, and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
In Christ,
