Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. (1Co 5:6-8)
Sin, whether private or public, personal or corporate, must be dealt with. We cannot claim the Name of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, and continue in sIn. If we say we have no sIn we deceive ourselves. Liberty in Christ is not a license to sIn, but freedom from the penalty of sIn, for that is paid for. Our life in Christ gives us victory over its power through His Word. And one day, when we are Home with Him, we will be delivered from its presence and temptation. Jesus paid the penalty of sIn, when we received Him by faith, GOD delivered us from sIn unto liberty in Him, and the Spirit that indwells all believers gives us the power to resist and overcome those temptations that come our way.
When sins do occur, they must be dealt with swiftly and in a spirit of grace. Sins should be repented and forsaken, the fault confessed, while restitution and forgiveness properly applied. Private sins may stay private, but public transgressions will affect our ministry, and in both reconciliation with GOD and with those sinned against is always the objective and desire, that the people of GOD may be pure, Holy, and GOD is glorified.
The Church must deal with sIn within as well, for we have work to do, and conflict, division, strife, and ungodliness keep us from the tasks we have from our Lord. Purging sIn, without destroying one another, but in love and mercy, will get us back on track in missions and ministry to the hurting and need. Relying on the Holy Spirit and His power to live in Christ, through the growth that comes from His Word, will allow us to truly love one another, disciple one another, and worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. As we go, we are to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in the Power of the Holy Spirit, to this lost and dying world. We are to proclaim the Good News of reconciliation with GOD through faith in His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary, through repentance of our sIn, that those who hear may believe, and in believing have life in His Name.
For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. GOD calls you to trust Him and what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, to give you a new life in Christ. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life, now and always.
