In His time all things work together for His Glory and for His purpose

7/28/2014

And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers. And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound. And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward. And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.
And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to GOD? tell me them, I pray you.
But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:
And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants. And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand: But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them. Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him. (Gen 40:2-5, 8, 14, 20-23)

While Joseph was in prison, two particularly important prisons from Pharaoh were put in his charge. While there, these two were given a dream about their future, and Joseph correctly interpreted the dreams as a return in three days for the butler, and death for the baker. Joseph requested that when the butler returned to Pharaoh's service that He speak kindly to Pharaoh about him, so that he could be released from this unjust sentence. Because all things were working in GOD's timing, the butler forgot about Joseph, and Joseph remained in prison.

GOD was working things out, and had a precise plan and timing for Joseph and the people of Egypt and Israel. He was also teaching Joseph about His timing and patience. Joseph had arrogantly promoted his dreams and his status before his brothers, and now languished in an Egyptian prison. His obedience  to Potiphar and his kindness to the Butler had simply resulted in jail and his continued sentence. But GOD was preparing Joseph for a much bigger assignment than Joseph could ever have imagined.

We must wait on GOD, serving where He has put us until He tells us otherwise, and continue to be obedient to His Will and His Word. In His time, He will accomplish in us all that He wants us to do for His glory and the Kingdom of GOD. He will tell us how, when, and where to serve if we ask Him, but has already told us what, in that we are to minister to those around us as He gives the increase, disciple one another in His Word so that we grow in Him, and proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to all we meet, and as we go, tell them of Salvation that only comes from His finished and perfect work on the Cross of Calvary that they might hear and believe, and believing have life in His Name.

For GOD is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance and the knowledge of the Truth. Jesus loves you and wants to establish a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. Surrender to Him on His terms and He will give you a brand new life of discipleship and fellowship with Him that is abundant and everlasting. Just as Joseph trusted GOD even in slavery and prison, You must turn away from your sIn and unrighteousness and trust what He has already done for you to pay your sIn debt. Just as He provided for Joseph during his trials, He has provided the only way of reconciliation with GOD with forgiveness and Salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD who is GOD the Son, and is our Life. Turn away from yourself and your sIn and turn to Him alone for eternal Life.

In Christ,
Jefferson Sweet
