And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city? Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their GOD, and worshipped other gods, and served them. Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country. (Jeremiah 22:8-10)
Is the church any different today? Have we become complacent and just like the world in our practices instead of looking to GOD and His Word for our standard. We profess Christ with one breath on Sunday, and live like He doesn't exist for the other six. There is still a remnant and GOD knows who are truly His, but the rest will have a reckoning coming, and it may be sooner than we think or want. But, GOD tells us to be ready, and to await His coming, which is just as sure as the destruction of Jerusalem was when GOD told it to Jeremiah. If any in the church are dreading the return of Christ, there may be a good reason for them not wanting Him to come and find them disobedient to His Word and not fulfilling the Command and Commission He gave His Church.
Or you may not be the Christian you think you are, for you have never believed GOD's Word and received Him by faith in His finished work on the Cross in your place. GOD is not willing that any should perish but wants you to come to the knowledge of the truth. He calls you to surrender to Him on His terms and repent of your sIn. Jesus loves you and desires a covenant relationship with you that is real and personal. He tells us all that we must be born again and offers to you freely a new life of discipleship and fellowship that is abundant and everlasting.
Be obedient to whatever He calls you to today.
In Christ,
